Foolishly wore shorts!! Shins covered in cuts after the ascent/
descent which have now healed....

My guess at your remaing 30D is Moelfre 589m 1,932ft .

No plans for the walks, just make it up, with the exception that
Jhimmy is, IIRC, going to complete his round of the Wainwrights on
Harter Fell??? on the Friday???

Serious doubts whether I can make it. This is a work related issue and
everything's going wrong there. I was hoping to arrive late Friday if I can
make it, looks like 50% chance. Will know on Tuesday afternoon.

I only need Harter Fell and Hard Knott to complete my Wainwrights - finish
on Hard Knott most probably.
Also, only 2 Marilyns in the area - Swinside and Claife Heights to conquer!

BTW, I recently drve past Swinside and at approx NY246221 a track lead up
the hillside and a man dressed in a yellow jacket seemed to be a watchman
was standing at the gate. Any ideas who he was? I doubt he was a forester
as this was on a Sunday afternoon.

Close but no. I did Moelfre last Autumn intending to clear the remainder
of the section that day but the schedule was a bit over optimistic and I
had to leave Moel Ysgyfarnogod and Foel Penolau to another time.
(Driving round those narrow country lanes takes for ever. :-) )

On a very wet morning I parked at that spot and was approached on the
descent. I made a very feeble excuse that I thought it was CatBells?
Young-ish lad on the quad bike just shook his head and pointed to
CatBells and left me to continue back to my car.

No, I've not given it a moment's thought, I'm afraid.

I've either been away (on holiday) or very busy for the last few weeks
and I haven't even dug out my Lake District maps, but thanks for
posting the link to the campsite webpage as I now reckon I could find
it.

I'll be up at 5 tomorrow morning to get the train down to London (or
"dat Lundun" as it is properly called) and I won't be home till late
on Thursday night, but hopefully I'll have built up enough Time Off In
Lieu to take Friday afternoon off work. I doubt I'll get there before
8pm, even if I do take the afternoon off.

I've not done much Lake District walking, so I'll be happy with
anything probably.

With respect to my previous post about Glyderau & Carneddau, it didn't
happen.... Just back from North Wales and my walks were either easy
Lleyn Peninsula Mariyns (& mini-Marilyn) or Snowdonia Massif based
around the Nuttall walks plus first Marilyn in 30D Mynydd Nodol.

Hope all who participated did OK with the crossing of Scotland last
month, a quick scan hasn't revealled any reports. Doh! Just spotted
Judith's Mini-TR: TGO Challenge 2007 Strathcarron to Stonehaven.

Regret not able to come to expedition - mind you I have nothing left to
do list wise in the area - no Wainwrights, Marilyns or even Dewey 500s.
Hoping, at last, to get the final Welsh Marilyn on Bardsey the w/e after
- that just leaves the only non-Scottish Marilyns being the two on the
Isle of Wight. Which would get me to the number of the beast.

Quite a select bunch!

Right now I feel really tired and CBA driving to the Lakes tomorrow
afternoon, but hopefully a good night's sleep will sort me out and

Sounds like a typical expedition these days. A lot of interest initially, a
lot of people dropping out at the end. Sounds like it'll end up as just a
walk with a few mates.

That's the way it's going these days. Judith and I had an expedition
up High Holborn and over the viaduct to watch a footie match the other
night. We conversed on many subjects including the lack of new blood
in Usenet. I think newsgroups are a dying form of communication.
