Sibling rivalry is a good thing in this case, it seems.

I disagree with the original poster’s statement however, as RANS does not make a lowracer, a tadpole
trike, a delta trike, or a true CLWB, so some bases remain to be covered.

This makes things easier--

- I didn't finish my 2003 Honey Do list, after which I was going to reward myself with a new 'bent.
Since this new model is a few months away, I'd want to wait anyway, and I have some more time to
finish up my tasks.

- I was thinking the monotube high racers out there might be too wimpy for my current weight (gotta
test ride to really see if that is so), and this RANS frame gives me a good alternative, I think

A very good looking bike, maybe a future winner for RANS. But in my opinion this model cries for a
hardshell seat, at least for a seatback with the upper part curving towards the rider, not away from
it. In this hindsight I consider the Bacchetta seat a major development over the standard RANS seat.

Looking at the picture you'll see the rider's neck is miles away from the seatback, i.e. the upper
part is useless, the flatter the seat angle the more.

We'll see if high racers sooner or later will catch on here in Europe too, at the moment low racers
dominate the racing scene in a very clear manner.

Double sacrilege! Within the loosely affiliated followers of the true USS (indirect, no tiller), we
believe that Vision and their black sheep version of USS (direct, with ASS-worthy amounts of tiller)
is the sacrilege 😉.

Is ATP Vision even in business anymore? Production of Volae framesets has been taken over by
Waterford, a Vision dealer employee stated that production of bikes had ceased, and the ATP Vision
web site is down.

Victor, I weigh in at 250, I ride the large version of the Bacchetta Giro.There is NO decernable
frame flex. I've ridden a Strada with the same results. The Rans entry looks nice, Rans is a good
company, ( I also own a Vrex) but I suggest you give all the high racers a chance. They all have
thier sales features. Remember it's the Hunt, not the Kill Denny in Sayre, PA "Bent but not Broken"

The Force 5 comes with ISO 571-mm wheels [1] which means one would be limited to skinny tires.
Hopefully there will be enough frame clearance and brake reach adjustment [2] to be able to run
decent width (28-32 mm) ISO 559-mm [3] road tires (on the appropriate wheels) for heavier riders or
those riding on poor surfaces.

[1] 650C for those who insist on using the obsolete French sizing system.
[2] Longer reach sidepull brakes might be required.
[3] 26" MTB size

Most HPV racers in the US are riding lowracers, and will likely continue to do so for reasons of
drafting. Highracer sales in the US are primarily to road riders, not racers. This may or may not
change for long distance events that ban drafting.

I see your point, Tom, but at the moment most part of recumbent racing takes place on tracks or
relatively flat courses. What will happen if there are real hills or even mountain passes involved
sometimes? Do you still see a clear advantage for lowracers under this conditions?
