Strange think ... after I [censored] an anonymous poster on this NG, I suddenly find my mailbox full of
SPAM from outfits (ya know, penis enlargement and such) as if I had requested the [censored]. Hmmm ...
wonder who that could be?

What are the chances someone was vengeful and spitefull enough to do that, and what can I do about
it (aside from being "nice" all the time)?

Let's talk about the "good service" of the LBS. Here are my last three experiences:

1. I need a 1" standard threaded headset. Easy, right? My closest shop is manned by a couple of
"cliff-hucking and log-riding" guys just out of high school. After digging around in the back of
the shop they find two headsets. They say the previous owner had bins of spare headset parts,
but they: "threw all that [censored] away". They are both JIS models designed for low-end asian bikes.
They don't know the difference. They are however willing to give me a discount on the headset
because the star-fangled nut and the top cap seems to be missing. On a threaded headset.....

2. I'm looking for some Ergopower shifters. In the 30 or so shops in my metro area, only 10 touch
road bike stuff, and 3 even know about Campagnolo. A single shop has Ergopower shifters in
stock. Daytona. For $300. Chains are $40 each.

3. Yesterday I'm looking for an 8-speed Campagnolo cassette. I drive to the race-oriented shop one
city over. They give me snotty attitude about: "Campagnolo not making these since 1998!". As if
I was looking for the Holy Grail. Nothing in stock, and the order price being double mail-order.
They do however have a "Miche" brand cassette. I buy and take it home. Today I pull it out of
the box and discover it is a Shimano spline. Sigh....
