Hello,
I'm seven days away from the Boston Marathon. I have put in some good
training for the last 20 weeks and feel great. About three weeks ago I got
some pain in my right quad, nothing major and I trained through it. A sharp
tight pain that would radiate from above my knee to the upper third of my
quad. Sometimes it would spread to the groin. It would also hurt when I
was taking my pants on and off. I'm 99% sure its not a stress fracture
since I have no pain on the bone with palpation. Plus, the pain goes on and
off a lot, like muscle tears do.
During my first taper week, the pain got worse, not unbearable. I was
icing, heating, and using NSAIDS. My wife finally benched me and I took a
day off, water ran today and am planning on resting tomorrow. It is feeling
a lot better than it did last week, but I am still scared I am not going to
make it.
What should I do between now and the race? I am so close.
Thanks,
joe
