Most comfortable shorts for "the boys"?

    A slightly odd question from a lurker...

    I tend to be fairly, well... large in the front, and a lot of cycling shorts that I have tried tend to be fairly uncomfortable.

    I've been cycling for years and it continues to amaze me how poorly designed a lot of these bike shorts are.

    Seams right up front where the Old Fella is, seams right where the Berries are, coarse fabrics. Then there is the problem of the region getting sweaty, and you end up with testicles slipping down, or just feeling uncomfortable, etc.

    Can anyone recommend any particular shorts that are man friendly? That is, that have a relative roomy crotch area that "hugs" the goods (holding them in place) up out of the way and in a manner that doesn't involve layers upon layers of stitching?

    I liked the concept of the Castelli Yfuso (no seams up front), but the chamois was a disaster. Is there anything else out there that anyone who is similarly sensitive "up front" could recommend?

    I've been looking for the crotchless bike shorts that still have the ass pad. Too much time spent adjusting the man gear.

    I've been riding for about 20 years and the only thing I like is Pearl Izumi. I have the same problem you are describing and have tried just about every brand out there.

    The reason everything "falls" is basically the shorts are too loose. They may be tight on your body, but not snug enough in that region. Pearl is what I've found to figure that out. Specialized also is making good stuff now. From what I understand one of the designers is an old Pearl Izumi employee.

    Another solution is bib shorts. That way you're not limted to one company. Plenty of people make those.

    Assos bibs....but then it really depends on which way your boys like to swing and how you like your ass cheeks to be held.

    Razorwire is more comfy for me than anything from Pearl Izumi and Sugoi.
