Yeah, that excuses killing them or trapping (injuring no doubt) them and
releasing them on a nearby golf course.

Selfish and cruel much?

I do kill the rats that get into my garden (traps not poison), I'm an
animal lover but rats just don't count; especially when they're getting
into my food supply. They come from the big empty field behind my
neighbor's house. The rats tend to go for the squashes and the grapes.

We'll always loose some crops to critters; coons, birds, bugs. The
squirrels eat the immature tomatoes and cherries; they really can wipe
out a lot of fruits and vegetables. They don't seem to be too
traumatized by spending some time in the trap, and only one had a minor
injury from trying to get out. So far, none of them have turned to
attack me on release. I sincerely hope they find new living
accommodations at the open space where I drop them off - and sometimes
ride my bike!

Also, I ran over a squirrel on my bike once, at slow speed, both wheels
(unavoidable). He kind of made a pitiful little squeak but then ran off
the road without visible sign of damage.

Building houses out of wood is silly, when reinforced concrete is
available. (I do not work for the Portland Cement Association, but maybe
I should.)

If one is nice to the squirrels, they will trust you enough to take food
directly from your hand.

This "kitty cat" is NOT pretty? Not a prey animal, is it?

I once caught a baby possum in my trap. I felt really bad about that. He
looked stressed out. However, I harbor no such tender feelings toward
squirrels. None, whatsoever.

They got into my attic twice and that cost $800. Then, they got into the
sprinkler box and chewed that up, costing another $200. Two traps cost $50.
End of story.
