Just you try telling that to a Scotsman! A Welshman would not be happy
either but strictly speaking Wales is a Principality.

    But they were asked!!

    When?

And they chose to stay put.

    When?

The question of independence for Scotland has never been put to the
vote. The referendum on devolution was only that. In one famous TV
interview, Alex Salmond (SNP) and Donald Dewar (Labour) were both asked
what their second choice would be. Alex plumped for devolution behind
    independence. Donald refused to answer.

And they still largely vote for people who want them to stay put.

Sadly true. One suspects that this may change at the first sign of a
Tory (UK) government. But that could be a long way off. . . . .

So when does the Cornish War of Independence start?

it does have a few problems yes .. hope the USA never needs to invade
the UK, they'll be seriously lost in a few places. Someone much have
browbeaten them into removing the population numbers and city sizes as
well (maybe the heavy hand of the OS?).

I suspect this is the same db that the CIA had on its site or in its public
collections at one point. Seems to be very similar in format.

But look on the bright side. When the effect of your "surgical strike"
weapons is measured MEGATONS, you really don't need to worry about a few km
error here or there and definitely not worry about any datum.

I find it seriously amusing when North American food industry "converted to
metric" and uses precise standard sizes like 186ml, 341ml, 87g, etc.
without having the leat clue what a "ml" or "g" even is.

btw, if you tell me you mother's village, I'll fix it. My village wasn't
    listed either!

Why? Is his mum's village broken?

I think that it already has!
