Landis impressive today, but...

....it's a bit appalling to think how he rode like an iron in the
Dauphiné. You would never have seen a guy like Hinault or Merckx take
such a beating a month before the TdF, I guess they don't make them
like that anymore, eh ? Sure things have changed, but in my book a
champ is a champ and Landis was a chump in the Dauphine.

Landis has his first day ever in yellow and you're comparing him to
Merckx and Hinault and calling him a chump, a day after he announces
that he's been riding with bone-on-bone in his hip for 2 years without
painkillers or whining?

Your yellow jersey came from Nashbar, so I guess that gives you the
right to dump on him.

Contender for "RBR's Most Idiotic Posting of the '06 Tour".

Bet Floyd would rather wear yellow in the Tour rather than in the
Dauphine. Leipheimer would, too.

True, still hard to explain how he could be 15 minutes down on the
Ventoux and the Toussure and riding everyone off his wheel today.

Geez, maybe the guy just had a bad day. You could see how that
might happen when the bones in your leg are scraping against
each other with each bloody pedal stroke.

Give a pint, crit goes down 7 points. Three weeks later it's back to normal,
and you've got a pint you can use.to boost 6 points. That's a swing of 13
points.

Or did you mean that anyone can have a bad day?

Dumbass -

Don't be a jackass. Even Merckx "only" won 1/3 of his races in his
prime and Landis is no Eddy Merckx.

thanks,

Sounds like you just accused Floyd of blood doping???

How about this explanation: when he realized that he'd have to go too
deep into the red to ride the Dauphine competitively, he rode it for
training, never really dipping into the red.

Not hard to imagine at all that at a training pace he'd be 15 minutes
behind Levi, et al... riding at race pace.

He wasn't having a bad day, he deliberately didn't waste himself.

No, I accused him have having a bad day. But doping, or not pushing it when
he say he couldn't keep up could also explain his results.

Exactly. I hope he can make it to Paris, but with a serious health
problem and a relatively weak team I'd be very surprised if he can get
there in yellow.

So dipping into the red is a diminutive form of tapping. Or not.

Actually in a lot of profesional schemes the Duphine is very important
for preperation and yes, I am pointing towards blood doping^^

Phonak is a European team, so the purity of the non-Europeans is still
defendable^^

Is it also hard to explain why Leipheimer would have WON the DL and
then finish 5 minutes down in the TT?

Geez, July is a bad month around here.
