    This isn't AA or OA.

We're not recovering from eating. Alcoholics have to abstain, we have to
eat. In a diet group for those on a specific, limiting plan, of COURSE
recipes are going to appear as part of offering support.

well, it is a group for people giving up a sugar filled carb diets. i
guess it isn't SugarAnon but i haven't found that yet.

i don't think offering sugar substituties to sugar addicts is supportive.

You're assuming that we're all sugar addicts?

    Nuh uh.

  3. My apologies. I have usually added "Not for induction" to dessert posts or
other lower (not low) carb recipes. I suggest you killfile me immediately to
avoid any future harm to your diet or health.

Just so you know, nanner makes me think of banana pudding (we called it
nanner pudding), a personal weakness. I see your posts everyday, yet I have
    been able to persevere.

i'm glad that there are all these lovely LC recipes for sweets & treats
but when I pop into the newsgroup here and see "Chocolate Creme Brulee" or
anything else along those lines it has a weakening effect on my willpower.

    Anyone else?

There's a whole big world full of ice cream and baked goods out
    there.

You just have to learn to live with that. :-)

Yep. It helps that I'm too lazy to go round up all the necessary
ingredients and figure out the sweeteners and all that. I guess I
don't have that strong a sweet tooth anyway, since I'd rather have a
good omelet than a piece of cake any day.

I consider myself to be a sugar addict...or at least I used to be...however,
I realize how very deadly sugar can be for me.

We all have our very own personal demons, though.

  8. I never was big on sugar or sweet things all that much, but damned if
I didn't love pasta, hashed browns, potatoes and gravy, deep fried
breaded anything, and things like that. Demons to be sure and just as
    deadly as sugar for me.

no, i can deal with it - and the recipes look *delicious* . no need to
apologize either and it wasn't directed at you or meant with any bad
feelings. I was "just curious" if anyone else got weak in the knees when
they see these yummy recipes. I've learned from past experience that I can't
even control myself with these LC desserts and it seems I am the only one
here that gets a little drooly over the subject headers.

i'll probably be changing my name soon anyway - i always do after a while

Actually, I consider all those things you mention to be sugar, as I would
eat that stuff plus the really sweet stuff.

I do have a sweet tooth but laziness wins out (well, the desire not to die
    soon helps)!

well, if you have to ask...

i do this too, i have a family to feed and i can't eat everything they eat.
but i will be more likely to keep carby things that don't tempt me (ie -
gummy fruit snacks for the kids I can live with, not my deal at all however
Oreos would drive me insane, possibly breaking my will)

    I agree.

    There are a handful of foods I'd find TOO tempting to have around;
luckily, they are not favorites of other family members so I don't
    have to have them around.

Errr... chocolate is not a high-carb food unless prepared with piles
    of sugar.

I had a couple squares of 85% cocoa chocolate just last night. That's
considered a half serving and has 2.5 g of carb.

A taste for dark chocolate developed over time. I used to rely on the
recipe for Lynne's chocolate for something closer to a milk chocolate
taste. Now it tastes too sweet to me and I prefer the dark stuff.

My typical breakfast shake is a mocha shake... containing cold coffee,
    protein powder, cocoa and sweetener.

In short, I don't see chocolate as a forbidden food. It's not
inherently high-carb unless you're talking the majority of candy bars
    out there.

When we have company, we always have some pretty extraordinary bakery
desserts. I always send leftovers home with guests or to work with my
    husband.

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson: "Mmmm...beer." That, along with
eating too many high carb meals like pasta and rice and throwing my blood
sugar onto a roller coaster, were my demons.
