re chainline. could you not put the 'bigring' on the inside of the spider-arms and use bmx(ie short) bolts instead to sort the chainline?

The silver saddle is cool. You should get more silver bar tape..
Definately some red or all-black tyres too..

How's the riding going so far? 59" gear would be interesting when
falling down a hill.

Riding is fine although I'm definitely speed limited at the moment. I need
to work out how to disable the rev limiter on my legs. I had fun playing
trackstand in the driveway. I kinda like the silver saddle (with "Malvern
Star" in the trademark text in pink) but I'm thinking a more Brooks look.
I'll have to think about that. Planned colour is Ford "citric acid" which is
that eye melting green they were using on the BA Falcons. I'll want clipless
pedals for the Giant before I start thinking about them for the fixie.
Toe-clips are fine, although I want prettier ones 'cos these are bulky and
ugly. They extend at least ½" in front of the toes of my shoes. There were
some most pretty alloy Campy ones on ebay a while back. Contemplating
finding a prettier crankset too.

It's "Ultrasport". Unfortunately, the chainrings are riveted, not bolted and
they don't have a common BCD (RCD?) because they're both on the inside.
Shimano obviously felt that this was the way to go at the time. I'm
contemplating getting a prettier crankset.

Just keep an eye on eBay. There are plenty of older cranks around. Be
aware too, that a Japanese square taper may not fit an Italian square taper.

Even though I really wanted mine to be a bit retro Italian, in the end
it was easier and cheaper to go with 600 cranks to match the 600 BB.

However, I do have a brand spankin 1" Record headset to go on 🙂

Nice looking frame - should look good after a respray. The cranks look a
bit futuristic 🙂

Well you've certainly piqued my interest. The pedals look like they want old
skool cleated shoes. Will I get away with using the old Dunlop Volleys or
would that be pointless? Also, how deep are the clips? It looks like the
rear bolt holes stop just shy of the spindle. I have little feet, but if
those are a reasonable size, I think you have a sale.

to have any more, are you?
