Regarding the theft of my Fondriest road bike + Giant commuting bike last week, the insurance has just been on the blower. The Giant is not a problem, but they can't replace the Fondriest so have decided to give me a bike up to their estimated value of £1300! I thought the limit was £500, but they say it's £2000, so I'm not arguing with them.
They first offered a Specialized Allez Comp, but can't deliver until DEC 05 and as they have to be shipped together, our lass was not happy. So they are giving me a Trek Pilot 2.1, but since I've got lots of Fondriest clothing, I'm selling the Trek and getting another one, unless after riding it I decide to keep the Trek after all.
Oh and I've kept my no claims, so thanks Lloyds TSB for your help :-)

Maybe the limit doesn't apply to stuff nicked from locked house/garage? Seems sensible to me, and I think this is how they are covered in my policy.

I think that's right. The usual £500 limit is for bikes locked to a lamp post, not for home contents.
