If PS was to sue, and won, what would a suitable amount of damages be? Presumably something to
compensate for any slur on his character. But since the opinion of his character of most here is
overwhelmingly negative, that means there has been no damage - his public image could get no worse.
So about 1p would seem sensible.

I would suggest that we, as a newsgroup, should sue you for libelling yourself as you have not once
but time after time posted opinions which are to your discredit, lower you (in as much as that is
possible) in the esteem of others, cause you to be shunned or avoided and expose you to hatred,

Now that would be an interesting class-action suit. Sadly I think we'd only get away with it

However, I'm sure any judge would ask Mr. Smith what the hell he was doing posting on uk.rec.cycling
anyway. Since he is clearly not a lover of the bicycle, then what business has he on a newsgroup for
cyclists? Unless, aha, it is to antagonise and irritate. In which case he is pretty much inviting
