In regards to Ryan and moving, you're right, there are obnoxious jerks everywhere on the planet. It's true. There's also something to feeling really out of place, though. Ryan feels deeply that he's surrounded by small-minded rednecks, and he'd like to seek out new pastures... seems a worthy pursuit. It's good to find a place where you're comfortable.
Ok, almost every day, the majority of the people I come in contact w/ always put me down & call me names, & hide my stuff, etc: I'm sick of this [censored]!😠 During lunch I usually have about 15 minutes on my hands, so I bring a newspaper & try to mind my own. People won't leave me the [censored] alone! They call me names, take it away, hide it, put their hand in front of my face, I'm sick of the [censored]. One time, & surprisingly I didn't get in trouble, I hit this one kid in the nose & he didn't mess w/ me for the rest of the week. There’s only so much [censored] one can take! Then there’s the lycra issues......Some one saw me out in public in my kit & my shaved legs, haven't left me alone since. They put me down b/c I don't go to church. These people tell me I'm going to hell & I'm a stupid tree-hugging hippy weirdo. These morons dont even know what evangelical means! This [censored] is repulsive!!! Not all of them are bad, I have a few friends. 😠!!!!!!![censored]!!!!!!! Just today, some one said "Your not Lance freakin' Armstrong [censored]"😠
Ryan - you should re-read the posts you have made in this thread. You talk about your rides with a lot of passion...MountainPro said it right the [censored] you put up with later on in life does not get any easier...and if anything the stakes are higher...Keep that passion on the road and in your life and everything else will fall into place...

He's in 8th grade so I figure he's about 13-14. Telling him to leave Kentucky doesn't seem right. Seems to say if you come up against something you don't like then runaway from it. You can only spend so much of your life running away. Ryan needs to realize there are others with different views than his. Some will get in his face about them and some won't. Those that get in his face he needs to take with a grain of salt. Only he can decide when to make a stand. I just hope he doesn't go "Columbine" at his school. I never said he was a "school murderer". I stated he needs to confront his anger. Ryan seems to be a frustrated kid with people around him who don't understand him. He's already punched someone. I stated he needs to deal with his anger before it gets to where he can't. If venting here is his method and it works for him, then he can tell us and I'll gladly retract it. Ryan needs reassurance that most of us have been where he is.

They may be jealous of you and the insults could be down to a feeling of inferiority on their part. This happened to me a lot of the time when I did bodybuilding and people would say: "It's just fat! You're just a fat loser!" I even had girls had a go at me on occasion and was once bullied (even sexually harassed) by a female boss who kept telling me, "all you ever think about is your stupid muscles!" Now I don't lift weights I get the same thing on my bike since vehicle drivers hate cyclists in this region (they probably get spiteful since we remind them of the need to exercise). Don't let these folks get to you and, if possible, avoid the negative folks and seek out more positive company. Such is life.

Sure there is! A fourteen year old girl. I would also have to say that kids of that age are cruel all over and not just in Ky. I did make the point in a later post that yes, there are cruel and obnoxious people everywhere, but there's also something to be said for finding your place. When the time is right, there's nothing wrong with finding a spot where you like the groove more. Ryan hates small-town Kentucky. After high school, I joined the USMC and still caught that whole shaved legs/[censored] [censored]. After the Corps, went to college. I picked up some nice girls with those same shaved/[censored] legs. The same guys that gave me [censored] in high school were drooling at the girls I was with because they liked my muscular-shaved-MANLY legs. The moral of the story here is, who cares what others say about you, they can't do what you can on a bike! 😄 😄 😄 😄

I once read big Louis Ferrigno's biography. He worked in a sheet metal factory at the time of the pumping iron movie and he'd often take bodybuilding mags to work. The guys who worked there from New York would say: "Hey! Here comes big Louis with those [censored] magazines!" Sly Stallone had a worse experience. Why are you making these posts? I know people's view points differ from I, I'm a radical progressive living in Owensboro Ky. I punched a kid in the nose, that was the first time I ever did something of that sort....He was such an [censored] though. I felt really awkward & bad. He sure as hell left me alone though! I later apologized to him. That was a while back. Any way that ordeal is over, I'm just glad it turned out the way it did. You know what zapper, Co. you guy's don't know me. As MountainPro pointed out, people are sometimes jerks in the adult world as readily as they're jerks in Junior High. I agree, Zap and Co.Rider were out of line with that remark. Keep coming around, though. I think even they'd concede that you're a good guy to have around.
