Oh good. Not failing a test is proof that someone is using. Great logic.

What is most fascinating is the french police finding the used syringes
in David's lair. A well planned and executed search which turned up
something you think he would have squirreled away in a place nobody
would look, considering the charges leveled at him by his former teammate.

I'll be absolutely amazed if it turns out he's doping - he's got too
    much to lose.

For some, it's exactly when they realize how much they have to lose that
they start thinking about ways, possibly illegal or unethical, to keep it.

This is interesting - "far above all the others". In some 2,000 miles
(MILES!!) of racing he has accumulated 6 minutes (about 3 miles)

that's in the neighborhood of a 10th of a percent and you call that "far
    above all the others".

Now consider that most of the Tour is filler as far as the GC
goes. There are 141k of TT and another 30-50k of mountain
finishes (depending on how you count). You can quibble
about use of the word "far" but not that it's a decisive win
    vs. the world's best.

Lance IS one of the very best athletes in the world. There's no doubt about
that. But he doesn't win the Tour brecause he's a better athlete than a half
dozen others. He wins because he has a winning strategy for the race and the
team to back up that strategy.

That's part of what makes an athlete. It ain't just muscles.

Johann is the master of the Tour and Lance is his weapon of choice.

    No argument there.

After all, Armstrong's biggest tour rival was a fat guy that gets
loaded on coke and wrecks his car. How tough is that?

Well I've seen Ullrich drinking coke but I've never heard of him testing
positive for cocaine, unless you're suggesting he gets his candy from Peru
and his jelly beans from the US. Perhaps you were thinking of ecstasy ?

Based on this year's margin, he's 0.12% better than Kloden. For the
    mathematically challenged, that's ~ 1/8th of 1%.

In a group of world class athletes of
any endurance sport is there a single champion that has dominated their
sport so completely ? At the top level of any sport, how do you gain that
amount of performance over the others ? It appears that Lance Armstrong is
bordering on beyond human abilities. Ok I said it now let the abuse
    begin...

I read an article a while ago (I can't quote the article, but I'm sure
you could google it) that said Lance's VO2max was 86 (wow), but Bjorn
Dahle's was 92! (double wow). I think Bjorn dominated X-C sking more
than Lance dominated cycling. As far as I can tell, Lance has only
dominated the Tour de France, not the sport as a whole, not that I
    want to belittle his feat.

    You did ask....

I think he was thinking of amphetamines which, of course, compliment
    ecstasy.

Here's a thought, and I know it's way the [censored] out there considering how
lazy americans can be, but maybe, just maybe he actually trains harder
than anyone else and works tirelessly to shave every second.

I don't see how anyone can look at Lance and not draw that same conclusion.
Here are my top 6 reasons LA is 'beyond category':

    1. He simply works harder than everyone else. Compare LA's
    training/nutrition ethics to JU's - no comparison.
    2. Genetics. Lungs, heart, legs, weight, brain - he's got it all.
    3. Incredible team (again). USPS was unassailable this year - no attacks
from any GC rivals (except JU on a couple of descents)
    4. Incredible team management. Johan is the best, no question.
    5. Incredible technology/equipment. Bikes, helmets, skin suits, aero riding
position - it's all the very best.
    6. Drive. The man will not settle for 2nd best 'anything'.
    7. Experience. He simply knows how to win TsDF.

I'll be absolutely amazed if it turns out he's doping - he's got too much to
    lose.

I don't take any stance if Lance dopes or not, but I have to comment on
    your reasoning:
If (IF! logical IF!) Lance is doping, then you can expect that a lot of
what he has to lose he would never have without doping. Baring his
health, and I don't think doping == big health risk, this is just too
easy. If he is able to win even one Tour without doping, and dopes
anyway, he's a complete moron, and I doubt that.

As long as you're lecturing people on their reasoning, I'll point out that
he COULD have doped for some period of time and not for all of the time.
Suppose, for example, that he doped this year but not earlier.

That's mainly because the correlation between VO2max and competitiveness
is much higher in the tour and XC skiing races than in one day races,
for instance. And that's one reason why many people point to Merckx'
    palameres in comparison to Lance's.

Yeah, he wins five in a row, and then begins to dope with the risk of
loosing it all. Maybe, but then there is still the moron explanation.

But anyway, my point was the "he has too much to lose, so he is not
doping" explanation doesn't hold, and what you say includes doping, so
    we agree.

OMG. Right! Some people still don't believe the the USA put a man on the
    moon.

    Quoted message said:

Of course they did. Didn't you notice somebody was operating the camera as
the others left - brilliant tracking kept the space craft right in the
    middle of the frame.

That doesn't tell you there was a conspiracy to fake a moon
landing. It just tells you there was a conspiracy to keep
you from ever hearing about the fourth astronaut, who operated
the camera. They had to leave him behind because the return
vehicle was overweight and a corrupt contractor had cut corners
on the oxygen generator so they could only make enough to bring
    three guys back.
