About 73km/h going down a particularly steep hill onto a long straight section with no traffic at the time. A lot of people say there is a hill at Noosa (Qld) that is used in the Noosa triathlon, and they reckon you can break 100km/h going down there on a road bike. I haven't been there yet, but it would be good to try.

Is that the one going down to the shops ?
In RNP on Friday, I spun to the max on 53*11. The car behind me disappeared and didn't catch me until I was climbing on the other side. Probably just as well I didn't have a speedo.

52 MPH down Santiago Canyon here in So California, what was scary about it was the fact that all the lights were green for me, I had in fact earlier applied my brakes at the first set and found that they weren't going to stop me. Luck was on my side that day.
I was 59 years old at the time, and I have since given up on the prune juice as that trip still keeps me regular every time I think about it.
Would I do it again......................hell yeah, but with brakes in tip top condition.

Came off at 40ish MPH. Luckily it was nice bouncy moorland grass/heather at the side of the road. Still hurt like hell but nothing serious just few bruises and scratches. Worst thing about it was losing my shorts. A few ramblers found a half naked dazed cyclist lying on the moors a bit amusing to say the least.

If you beleive my Shimano Flight Deck, it is 132 MPH:eek: ! Note that this always happens between Springfield, Ohio and Urbana, Ohio where it is perfectly flat. The route does take me past a very large cell phone tower and a good sized electrical sub station. I usually cruise through there at about 25 MPH but it feels good to see my max speed was 132😕 . I never thought that I would feel good about radio frequency interference, but......😄 .

Ive gone 84.3MPH going down Barn Street before, it was 0500 in the morning, so i sped my heart away, only to get pulled over for speeding (yes, speeding on a bike) at the bottom, just told to slow it down, and that the speed limit for that hill was 40MPH.
Another time i have been going down the Pembroke Road hill, next to where i live. Ended up reaching around about 90-95MPH chasing an ambulance which had a friend of mine in.
I tend to go out early hours of morning or late at night now though, i feel safer and more secure, plus the fact that you have the road to yourself :-)

Are you sure your computer is calibrated right. I am having my doubts about 90- 95mph.

90-95mph was what was recorded on my speedo, anything is possible if you know your limits, and if you know the surronding area.I know Barn street like the back of my hand, i know where every little pothole is, any dips in the road are. If you know things like that, then there aint any reason why you cant push yourself to the max.
Try it for yourself.

+1. 90-95MPH sounds highly optimistic. Are you sure that it is not KPH? That is still very fast but more realistic🙄 . -
That would amost be a world record.

aye the WR is around 100mph isnt it?
Best speeds:
Flats: 31.2 mph
DH: 54.8 mph -
I had a freind in 8th grade whose older brother had just gotten his drivers license. They took a department store bike and connected it to the car with a rope. According to his brother, they were doing close to 80 MPH when one of the bicycle tires came apart. No he wasn't wearing a helmet, but it wouldn't have helped anyway.

I'll take some shots of the hill for ya when i get the time.Ive never did anything as crazy as it again though.
The annoying thing was is that there were a roundabout at the very bottom, with traffic lights. Ended up running a red light as i couldnt stop in time.
