course (one of my first all ages shows) and TSOL was big too. Agent
Orange was one I had forgotten about. We used to love Alcohol (Can't
live without it! No doubt about it! - wasn't that them?). It was kind of
a Friday night anthem along with TV Party Tonight.

Glad you mentioned X and the Germs. X was one of my all time favorite
bands; them and Agent Orange, who I still listen to today.
On one of the early Agent Orange albums they a had a couple tracks from
another band called Symbol Six, who sounded like they
had great promise. Unfortunately, they were never heard from again.

I nearly forgot about the Descendents.

I saw X at Red Rocks once in '91 and had kind of forgotten about them by
that point but they reminded me they were still great. They played a hot
set, and in fact it was the 4th of July and they played that song. My
memory is a little foggy from that day (all day festival). I can't
imagine why...

Did you guys see Bad Brains is going to get back together and tour?
I wonder how that will be.

Bad Brains were probably my favorite but there was a lot of good
stuff back in my skate punk days.
That first Suicidal Tendencies album was a favorite of mine, as well
as anything from The Minute Men.

Bad Brains are definitely without a doubt one of the classic punk
bands ever. And I'm very west coast centric when it comes to punk bands.

And it's the minutemen!!! RIP d boon. And recently it's been the
secondmen. Mike Watt has to be the best bassist to come out of that
era, he sure was focused at the Stooges show.

I saw "Soul Brains" around seven or eight years ago, which is actually
the original Bad Brains lineup. Lets just say that HR has mellowed. A
lot. Which was disappointing until you remember that the last quarter

Dr. Know and Earl and Daryl are as good as ever, though their sound is
definitely of the latter metal/hardcore period. As long as you know
that a 50 year old HR isn't the same as the absolute monster he was at
20, it's worth seeing. Frankly, it would be a lot more disconcerting
to see a middle aged guy flailing around like a teenager. I'd bet that
the guys in the band and the management suits try and prod him into
more of a vulgar display, so in a way there's an uncompromising
honesty in his performance.

I've heard they're working on a new album. Between the skank punk,
reggae, and their anthemy metal stuff, (not to mention a lot of well-
documented conflict,) it'll be interesting to hear what comes out.
Hopefully MCA (who's producing) can pull off a Rick Rubinesque
revitalization job with them. My expectations are pretty low -- they
were lightning in a bottle. (Or at the Capitol.) But I hope it's great
and sells a bajillion copies. When I think of all the lowest common
denominator, cynical pap the old stuff has been reduced to for modern
listeners, Bad Brains definitely deserves to be sent out to the grassy
pasture with some bucks in their pockets.

I don't know, I just saw 60 year old Iggy stage-diving (over the security
gap even), climbing and pushing over monitors, and acting as crazy as any 17
year old punk.

I saw HR in the mid 90's, but it wasn't very good. Most of his band
missed the flight so it was just him and has DJ doing the DJ thing. It
just didn't work very well and I don't think he was into it.

I heard it was more of a return to keeping the dub and hardcore vibes
separate. So there will be hardcore tracks and dub tracks but no fusion
of the two like they did on The Quickness.

Undeniably. I saw Iggy a few years ago, and, as an entertainer, he's
astonishing. He's one of those very rare people who's got "it". Star
Power. Just lights up the place. But at the end of the day, his
recorded highs are as memorable as his lows are plentiful. And, as
good as Iggy was and is (and with all credit due to being a kind of
"innovator"😉, I've never seen anything like Bad Brains in their prime.
They may owe a lot to Iggy, but HR was the naypaaaam in his heart.

Totally agree with the highs and lows with Iggy, I LOVE the first two
Stooges albums, greatest rock and roll albums ever recorded, and like only a
few songs since such as the incredibly overused "Lust for Life".

And "Pay to Cum" just has to be one of the top 5 punk songs of all time.
