Tricky...cleaners that do a great job on grease often don't play well with
artificial fibres. I've had enormous success in the past using petrol or
kerosene as an intermediate step in removing grease from jeans. Dunno what
the end result would be on polyester though; could well end in tears.

You could try Citrus solvent. I'd be carefull on synthetics but I'm sure I've used it on cotton. Don't let it soak, spray, then wash.

Otherwise just dye the offending garments black. :p

i use oil & grease remover from local auto shop to remove grease from felt
in the back of subi when marked when carrying bike in back...
works great...a bit on the carsengenic side...(spelling) " would work on
clothes but wash immediatly after,......tell me how it goes...

That would probably be the go...I would suggest washing it BEFORE the
degreaser dries.

which reminds me of using industrial hand cream which stripped the grease off, 25 years ago so how safe it would be today. Maybe the modern equivalent?

Here's another product to try called Dylon stain remover No 1 It is a small blue & white container. It has always removed the grease from my washing. Not sure about bicycle grease though. Just make sure you follow the instructions.

I find that eucalyptus oil works a treat for most stains. Added bonus is the nice smell!

This stuff has a warning description on the side.....not that many people
read it but i would use gloves & a mask.....reads like most herbicides for
your garden......
But it does work...

If you know of anyone who is into the Amway thing, they have a product
called LOC which is very effective with most stains including grease. It can
be diluted significantly, is quite economical and being made of Lots Of
Coconuts, is entirely biodegradable.

Not sold in your regular stores.

ok, didnt do the washing on thursday cause cath and kim and the chaser were on. Not on friday cause my dad decided to bring his dodgy mates over so saturday was the big day. So of course i went out to the shed to pull out the degreaser and yes, no degreaser!!, so in frustration i grabbed the nail brush from the bathroom with some pre stain remover and it did the job just fine. I will try the degreaser soon though, cause im sure the brush wont be good for my cycling jerseys on a regular basis.

Grease on my clothes doesn't bother me. It's the grease on the carpet that's a problem. I've tried a few different carpet cleaners that didn't really work too well. I've had professional cleaners in and they just changed the colour of the spots. It wouldn't be a problem if it was my carpet, but I rent.

The degreaser I use on my bike is brown and I can't bring myself to spray it on the carpet. What brand of degreaser has been used successfully on clothing?

Big Kev's Stain Free is the only thing I've successfully used to get grease off carpet, and you get to say "I'M EXCITED" a lot and wear bad shirts when you use it (which makes the purchase worthwhile in itself).

The other approach is to just say taht the grease spots were already there when you moved in (there's usually something about marks on carpet in any condition report - as long as you remove the same number of spots as you make there's not much they can do).
