the only uni i have is a trials but im thinking of getting into muni ive done a few trails on my trials and it dosnt work to well because the wooden boards are spaced so far apart but i dont thave money to get a muni right now.🙁 is there somthing im doing wrong why cant i get my wheel to roll over thoes boards😕
You could get a Nimbus 24" for $209 and upgrade the axle & cranks as you improve, a Torker 24" for $259, or just save your money and get a KH Freeride. The third is the cheapest in the long run for getting a strong, light Muni, it's what I wish I had done.
How high, far appart are the boards? If you ride fast and smooth you can go over a lot of boards, rocks, and bumby surfaces with practice. Also you can throw in a hop as you ride over a board/rock.😎
I called unicycle.com this morning to check on my order since their site says 150 and KH site says 165. The lady I talked to said that the KH24 Freerides they are getting from KH are indeed now coming with 150's. She didn't know specifically why they changed them.
She was also very cool and said she changed the order to make sure I got 165's 😄
KH was riding with 150s + brake before he started using the geared hub, and I think he decided that they are probably a better length for the majority of MUni riders. I agree. I rode several hundred miles of technical MUni on 150s, and they're nice - once you get the motion wired they're faster than the long cranks without being cumbersome. I had no problem with steep fireroad climbing, and I did some serious elevation gains with them. Rolling out of mondo drops was also easier, and I had noticeably fewer pedal strikes. But...ultra-steep descents (near vertical) longer than a few meters require a brake.
When things get nasty technical and steep, you can extract more control from 165s.
KH is a master, very fit and at least 50 pounds lighter than me 😄
If I thought I had the quads to turn the 150's up anything more than a gentle grade, I'd have left them on there. Maybe after a while I'll have the power and technique to do it.

Too true...Besides i like the 170s. They have alot more torque and control for down graded slopes.
I like the huge 170s on my Qu-Ax. They give me lots of torque and control. I've been practising riding more smoothly to reduce huge-crank-induced wheel wobble (which was the only downside I saw to having cranks this long).
I tried my dad's Freeride and the 165s don't feel like they have the same power... I don't think I could roll over stray cats like I do on my Qu-Ax.
Muni is *-AMAZING!-* It puts all other styles of uni to shame(street gives it a run for it's money though😄 ). I usually take a spoke wrench, allen wrench, water and some food on my rides but for longer stuff i like to take a tube repair kit.
