Ok another question... Are the cranks im running good for the type of Muni im riding? Im running 170's and i want to do descents and climbs and technical stuff.. I dont just wanna barrel through the woods as fast as possible, i want to enjoy the ride.
My kh freeride has 165's. The newer freerides now have 150's, which for me are TOO short, and make climbing harder, and provide less leverage. I don't know why they made the change!:eek

I've been muni'ing a lot lately... so much that I upgraded the pedals on my Qu-Ax muni to Jim C Odyssey pedals. I also ordered a rail post and adaptor to help alleviate some comfort issues. I <3 muni.
EDIT: Where does one get a 24x3 IRC Kujo DH in Canada, trials_uni?

Have you ever tried muni with 150s? With really steep uphill, whether I'm on my 24 with 165s or 29 with 150s, it's a lot of work to stand up and climb. Personally, I feel the shorter cranks affect the downhill more than the uphill.
The specs on krisholm.com list the Freeride cranks as 165, but the Unicycle.com specs list them as 150. Strange.. I hope to be able to get hold of unicycle.com and clarify before they ship. I'd rather have the 165
It's been to Moab, CMW and all sorts of trails in between, managed Double Black Daimond trails at Northstar, and quite a few massive drops (6'-8'😉. Nothing bent, and trued as of last month.
So who hear is an avid Muni rider? Ive recently taken a real intersest in it and decided to build a new Muni for myself.
Ok so heres my first question(Definately not the last). I hoping to get my frame for Friday so that i can take my Muni and go for a ride Canada Day weekend. So if i can go, what tools/extras/foods should i bring along. Im planing on going for the whole day. What do you guys bring on long Muni rides?
Ok thats all. Thanks -Phil
hey trials uni. i used to do muni all the time when i first started and now im getting back into it. when i go for long muni rides i take a 15mm spanner, a shifter spanner and an 8mm alan key for the cranks, pedals and bearing caps. i then also take a phone, handy cam. and for food i take a camel bak (backpack w/ a bag that takes 2.5L of water). and if its gonna be a ride thats longer than 4 hours i usually take some space food sticks or some kind of small engery bar. and if you dont know where your going i suggest you take a map or something, cause last time i got lost for over 3 hours.

Wow! I've never seen a saddle tilted back so far!

I've really only ridden 150's. I've ridden 170's some though. They aren't too bad if you don't mind going slow, they are the best for real technical terrain. IMO the ideal crank legth would be 160-165's.
Why would they ever put 150's on the freeride? I sorta don't even like 150's on a 2.6" tire, let alone a 3".
I called unicycle.com this morning to check on my order since their site says 150 and KH site says 165. The lady I talked to said that the KH24 Freerides they are getting from KH are indeed now coming with 150's. She didn't know specifically why they changed them.
She was also very cool and said she changed the order to make sure I got 165's 😄
