This may not be very tasteful, but it's a real life question and an
ongoing problem for me. I am 48 y/o, have been running for 25 years or
so, and continue to have problems with nipple irritation. I have tried
Bandaids (they don't stay on very long if you're really sweating) lubes
and creams (they thin and run when you get hot) and different kinds of
shirts (then all seem to irritate when the get wet and heavy). I do have
reddish hair and very pale, wimpy skin that gets hacked off easily.
Anyone have a practical solution? Adhesive tape would just irritate the
h-ll out the skin. Have thought of this liquid bandage stuff but it's
got camphor and such in it, and I'm not sure how that would be for
applying in sensitive areas. All responses appreciated. If you've ever
bled after a long run, you'll know what I'm talking about. Thanks!

I've been using Desitin, which says it's for diaper rash. It has zinc oxide
and talc in a base of thick cod-liver oil. It's hard to wash off, even with
soap. The talc and zinc oxide seem to allow the fabric to slide enough that
I have very little irritation. It does stain the shirts a little if you
slop it on thick. Smells like a baby's butt!

You could try ultra-purified lanolin products that are used by
breastfeeding mothers. Really, no kidding! I used to be a breastfeeding
    cousellor.

There are two, PureLan 100 and Lansinoh. You should be able to find them
in the baby section of a drugstore or Walmart. They are very thick and
form a moisture barrier on the skin. I have a bunch of samples so I use
them on my face in the winter.

I already posted one reply, but had another thought while running this
morning. Dr. Scholl's sells pads for corns--they're small (maybe 3/4"
long), kind of football shaped, and have a hole in the middle. I
think they have a stronger adhesive since heat and sweat builds up
inside a shoe. You may want to try those. Plus, it virtually
guarantees you'll never get corns on your nipples. :-P

I suggest that liquid battery acid that eats off the corns. Use it for a few
weeks, and no more nipples to bother you.

no, they have much tougher nipples from hubby and baby sucking on them, playing
with them bouncing them, fondling them, licking them... damn, I gotta go do
    something.

I had the same thought, but glad someone else mentioned it first!

The Callus Cushions have bigger holes.
Also look for store brand of the same items.
And they're round-football shape, not oval!

  9. Have you tried putting just the adhesive part (not the pad) on the
nipple? It really does seem to work.

....as they're wearing a sports bra which usually tends to hold the
breasts in close and allows for about ZERO motion over the nipples and
therefore zero irritation...and no, I'm not making this up, I've heard
    this both from my wife and a good (female) friend of mine... (c;
