The guy that ran "7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents" was able to
designated his is self reported 26.2 mile individual runs and have them
recognized as "certified and registered" Marathons.

The truth behind Norm Frank? Who knows...good fo the old man.
However there's a whoooooole lot of "funny chronology" behind him..
There's also a guy in Germany who's supposively got over 1,000
"official" Marathons clocked...

IMHO *one* Google hit isn't a whole lot and in this particular case the
apparent conflict most likely stems from one man's misconception or
faulty memory; all other hits would seem to agree that Frank ran his
800th in the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama in December
2002.

That would be Horst Preisler (70) who ran his 1380th marathon in
November.

You may think whatever you like about these guys, but the marathons
they run are perfectly official - i.e. measured, registered and listed
in race calendars (as opposed to guys who just run a certain "official"
marathon course or whatever) - and I don't see any particular reason
to assume that they have at any point fudged the numbers.

There's also a Finn, Kalevi Saukkonen (61), who has passed the
1.000-mark, but some of those do deserve the quotation marks around the
word "official" because they were run in a series of highly informal
series of marathons which many people would view just as 42.195m long
runs with a bib on.

BTW there's another Finn who is "iinterested in marathons" and who
therefore decided to run 50 marathons the year he turns 50 and, well,

If it lends any more evidence, I was getting rid of some old Runners
World mags and found a brief article on Norm Frank. so the April 2002
issue says he was "nearing his 800th marathon." They only mentioned
American runners, and pointed out only 12 had done 300 or more.

So a little over 3 years, add 100 marathons so that's a little under
3per month.
I guess this guy never tapers!

So I guess Norm Frank's achievements have been covered before.
