The first time I saw Commesso this Tour I thought he was some fat [censored] who snuck onto the course. Yeah, I know he's accomplished something I never will and he must be pretty fit to finish the Tour, but really he does look very chunky. As much as people make fun of Ullrich, he's anorexic next to Mr Chunky Commesso.
The Dutch commentators call him Sylvester Stallone. He seems to have a great personality. As he rode along at the front of the bunch yesterday his visual descriptions of a crash were such that you didn't need to hear his animated dialogue to work out that he was talking about Rasmussen's ITT. Before the days of helmets he always wore a bandana and looked more of a pirate than Marco even. A great entertainer, and a great attacker. All the best Dan Gregory
It's too bad he didn't get more air time before his crazy day of attacks. I really enjoyed watching him, and especially listening to Phil/Paul describe him...he looked like he was really enjoying himself yesterday during the final laps...always a big grin on his face.
