Yes, tell your doctor that you don't want to know when he's doing the procedure. That's very possible these days with lots of docs who are aggressive user of anesthetic (but safe). The last time I had the procedure done, the doc said, "Well, we're going to give you a little shot, now." The next words I heard were, "Well, we're all done....."
