  1. I also agree with both comments on sponsorship in general, but not so
much for unicycling, for that exposure thing, because lets be honest
apart from videos which i tend to think most companies dont see unless
there really high profile, there is very little chance of exposure
apart from at one or 2 conventions ayear and then you really would have
to push and work to impress the company if on the off chance they were
actually there, becuase dont forget due to lack of companies, we are
limited to one company per country and thats in the main unicycling
countries. This is why you have to put yourself out there, i think the
only time it can harm to approach a company is when its a waste of time
because that would annoy a company, but if you are a good standard and
have some sort of case for requesting sponsorship, why shouldn't you
    let them know.

I liked the way Kelly asked for sponsorship, it showed effort,
determination and skill, but maybe a bit to much pressure personally if
i had of been deciding my concience would have made me say yes just for
the passion that kelly had put into it, actually i've gone a bit off
track and not really sure what i'm saying any more so ill leave it
    there lol

  2. Lol nah this thread isnt for sure, but its a good outlet to be a kid ;-D
plus it was started by a 14-15 yr old who had got some pics off my
photobucket from jokes...I find it pretty funny :-D.....I had not
entended to gloat in any way, for comming of in this sence i appologize
to all reading. Il finish this perticular topic with you via PM if you
wish...Ohh but I made a thread trying to find the less popular comming
up riders, who can display a rapid learning pace and a tremendous
ammount of skill. Kris or Yoggi never made threads because they were
more well intergraded into the unicycling world. They knew better on
who was landing what tricks. il leave the rest for private
    conversation...

Lol the 'clean route' I took was starting to talk to yoggi on a more
personal level and showed him some of my vids to see what he thought, I
showed him koxx breaker, my offraod gliding, along with some other
shots I had. I later asked him if he was sponsoring anymore riders, and
he said there was a USA team going up...

I thought you first emailed Yoggi to get sponsored?

I did lol. He instead advised Tom to put me on the USA team, and help

  6. yeh sure, i did it by asking, but i also had a fair amount of
    justification for doing so,

i was very naive before i got on this forum i honestly thought i must
be one of the best in the world because apart from the few at BUC i had
not seen anyone better so me and my cocky 14/15 year old self started
emailing companies i was confident enough to email, GB4, Onza , syko,
and KH Qu Ax, koxx one, basically everyone, they were all such kind and
encouraging responses really, i take my hat off to all of them, dan
heaton questioned me on what i want out of sponsorship and suggested
thats its not always the best route as did KH, Qu Ax wrote back saying
there thinking of supporting young riders. He spoke to roger from
unicycle.com apparently i came off good from roger so they drew up a
contract. My email just included, my resumee what i had achieved, a bit
about myself and how i could help them, and a video. Good luck to all
who seek sponsorship but don't rush into it, im sure the clean route
will feel alot more satisfying. Lets not forget those old words of
    wisdom, just ride!

  7. Lol I tried that as well, I was very cocky, well I still kinda am lol.
But I had sent several companies seeking sponsorships, I did it for 2
reasons, 1. I really wanted to progress in this sport and try and make
something out of it. and 2. I have great difficulty in affording my
    parts.
What I would write to companies that I was seeking sponsorship from
was; I gave them information about myself, age locations, the level I
am riding at(while trying not to commit sponsor suicide ;-) )
competitions I have been in, how much I like tehre company and would
love to help promote them and the sport of extreme uncycling. I would
offer them a video of some of my new er riding. So I am not against
seeking sponsorship if your reasonings are pure, the worst reasoning in
my mind, isnt wanting free or disscounted stuff...Its the ones jsut
want to be able to say that they are sponsored...
Rider, "Hay dude, im sponsored now. I told ya I was damn good!"
friend, "Ohh well thats awsome man, who are you sponsored by, adn what
    do you do?"
rider, "Eh some company with gear, I just ride...duh."
Errrhhh! lol. So if you truly want to help out that company cause you
like there products, or you want to make something of yourself, then to
me thats an honest reason to get sponsored. I only want the stuff from
them so that I can keep riding for them.

Edit: ohhhh hahaha, and when I wrote letters to companies, they were
generally well thought out and done with Spell check....never do the

  8. I asked Qu-Ax to sponser me, however, at the same time I offered to
rewrite some of the english on their website and brochure (parts of it
wern't translated properly from German) and I didn't just ask them to
give me free stuff, I told them what I like to do to promote Qu-Ax,
    etc.

I didn't even send them a video or anything, just a picture....

if they looked or were choosen.
