  1. Hi all, long time no see. Still infighting I see - c'est la vie.

Hubby came in with a 255 cholesteral count the other day. (Who'd a thunk it,
since *I* am the one that eats all the [censored] and he is the one that eats all
the veggies and fruit - go figure). Anyway, I am doing some research to
    find stuff to help.

So far I have Lecithin, Niacin, Oatmeal (the "real stuff"😉, Vitamin C and
such esoteric things as "policosano", inositol hexaniacinate, and sitosteral
(whatever the hell THOSE ARE), on my list.

And of course, eating more fiberous legumes (beans, lentils, etc., instead
of so much meat). Oh, and of course, more exercise (she runs screaming from
    the room).

    Anybody got any other suggestions?

    TIA

Start with more exercise: a brisk half-hour walk once a day (walk
with him and chat) will increase the "good" lipoproteins.

Second most effective are the dietary modifications - more
grains, fruits and veggies, less meat and animal fats.

The supplements you mentioned are of doubtful value - research
them thoroughly before spending anything on them.

Sure -- you left out the most fun alternative: red wine.

    Try the Adkins Diet revolution.

Worked for me. And thousands of others.

  6. I too had high cholesterol. 240 about 20 years ago.
I exercised, reduced eggs, red meat, ate more vegetables, drank red
wine, but my cholesterol increased to 260.

The exercise did increase the ratio of good to bad.

So now, I take lipitor and eat what I want, and my Cholesterol is now
    below 200.

For many people their cholesterol levels may be due to genetic factors,
and not related to diet or exercise.

And then Adkins dropped dead of a heart attack. I think the jury's
    still out on that one.

Dunno about that "most fun." A half-hour or so of
exercise per day can be quite a bit better than wine.
Nothing says that the exercise needs to be upright.

Yeah, but those 4-oz curls are so much fun.

    Try pushups some time.
