  1. Last night I pigged out, large Hawaiian pizza and five stubbies of VB.

This morning's ride was AWESOME! Six minutes off my usual morning ride
time, my legs normally run out of steam around 140bpm but averaged
    160bpm today.

My normal dinner is something along the lines of steak or fish with a
side salad about 19:00. Should I go more carby and eat later, say 21:00
which is half an hour before I generally go to bed?

Sometimes I have /two/ large pizzas before going to bed after an afternoon
shift (knock off at 11pm). I'm not sure about the next day's ride, but I
    don't sleep too well :-)

haha.. tonight I looked at the pasta sitting on the bench and
thought.. "fuggit!", took off down the road for a pizza!!
Mexicana.. YUM! Hey, I did some hard work at the
'drome and a pizza every now and then ain't too bad..
well.. maybe a whole pizza is.. oh well. :-P

It's called 'guilt'. It can be a great motivator.. I should know. :-)
Commute times at this time of year are fast because there's
heaps less traffic. How many reds did you run? ;-)

No. Maybe more carbs but don't have the meal so close to
bed time. It doesn't help you trying to sleep with a belly full.
Hang on.. you go to bed at 9.30pm! My god.. I went to bed
EARLY last night at 10pm and I had the worst night's sleep
I've had for months! How do you do it? Early mornings?

I did a similar thing last night, but with Rice Cream. knocked off a tin of
rice cream then went out for a ride at 8pm for a 50 km ride. Sprinting up
hills in the big gear and all!
I thought it worked so well I did it again today, a can of rice cream and
then swam 4km. My longest ever! (Previous best was 3 km). Bought 6 hot cross
buns, a box of chocolates and Salt & vinegar potato chips to celebrate.

I never run reds, heck I stop for amber if safe to do so 'cause that's
    what it means.

More carbs does seem like a good idea, replenish glycogen after ride
home and store some up for the next morning.

I'm normally up at 05:30, the theory is that I get home by about 16:30.
That happens about once every two weeks, normally I'm home about 17:30.
    Last night was 20:00.

Not so good in this weather, before bed, especially if
you've just done a hard ride. I've been struggling to stay
hydrated over the last couple of weeks and I have hardly
    been drinking (grog that is)!
I finished all my beer supplies a while back and have
been trying to avoid buying more.
Me not drinking? Now you _know_ I wanna win! :-)
With no sprint training tomorrow, tonight might be an
    exception however.. :-)

Instead of looking at traffic lights as a hinderance.. they
should be viewed as 'track stand training tools'. ;-)

Yes, post hard exercise, you should ingest some high GI carbs
and you might want to include some lower GI carbs in your
meals. How much all depends on how far and how hard you
ride I guess. Hey, I'm no longer in the three figure weight
    range!
