Not helping, but.. why was he braking "hard" with
the rear brake? That's not gonna stop near as quickly
as front braking.

I think maybe SBR and ACR do Crack'n'fails? Try
the tri-focused shops..

Just spoke to him... said he grabbed both brakes with equal force. He felt the back end do a slo-mo fish tail sort of thing.

I can't remember where you are..
these are Melbourne bike shops which I'm
sure sold Cannondale, that's all.
SBR is in St. Kilda somewhere and ACR is
cnr. Burwood Hwy and Warrigal Rd.

They don't actually have ANY aussie
dealers listed on their website.. pretty poor..

Me in Fiji... long, long way from LBSs.

I think I found a company who may be able to repair the frame. Grip Sport (Melbourne) claim:

"From the smallest crack to the ugliest break... GripSport is the acknowledged expert for specialist repairs to aluminium, CrMo & steel frames. Australia’s only truly National Frame Repair Service."

Sounds good to me.

Anyone had any exprerience dealing with them?

I'd try for a warranty if possible but otherwise Gripsport can fix your frame.

Cannondale say that the type of damage is not covered by the warranty. We'll give Grip Sport a go.

I'd push them on that!
the frame snapping from braking sounds fairly pathetic IMHO

you should get some eyewitness statements from your mate and the guy whom saw it from behind collapse BEFORE the collision

I'll tell him!

He's [censored] of with C'dale so I don't think he'll let it rest (don't think he'll buy another one either).

Just got a reply from Grip Sport they say - we emailed them a pic of the damage:

"It also looks to me as if the chain stay had been cracked (probably almost all the way through - down at the dropout) BEFORE you slammed on the brakes. That's a very common area for road bikes to go and explains how the entire chain stay simply "folded" when the brakes were applied."

They say they can fix it no problem... cost not bad... 2 weeks turnaround.

Just got to find an economical way to get it from Fiji to Melbourne.

Anyone want to come and pick it up???
