  1. Hi:

I am currently taking 60mg of Prednisone per day.

As a result of taking Prednisone I am showing calcium in my urine. I am now
taking Fosamax to try and offset this calcium loss.

My understanding of Calcium is that it also requires Potassium to be
re-absorbed. Should I then be taking a potassium supplement along with the
    Fosamax?

    Thanks,

    FRED

  2. I think you mean magnesium. Anyway, a little potassium citrate won't
hurt, just don't overdo it. Take calcium and magensium citrate, and a
    vitamin D supplment.

You are probably going to destroyo your body if you continue to take
the medication though. You need to stop eating any major source of
unsaturated fatty acids and oxidized cholesterol, and you can also eat
berries and dark chocolate in much larger amounts than you probably are
    now.

I had severe osteoporosis and it cleared up within a few months once I
figured out what to do. Aside from those supplements and avoiding
unsaturated fatty acids, you should eat at least a little organc butter
with each meal and be sure to get plenty of good quality protein. Raw
cheese (or at least whole milk cheese) and boiled eggs are very good.

If you'd like, why don't you tell us why you are taking the medication?

The fundamental flaw of medicine, documented yet again!

The natural hygience movement prior to the American Civil War nailed
the basic problem with taking drugs. Chronic use of drugs results in
secondary diseases to which the 'natural' response of medicine has
historically been to prescribe yet more drugs.

Death by ADR is the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA, as reported
    in JAMA.

Just thought that the world might want to know.

  4. ADR = ?

  5. Hi Montygram:

    Thanks for your reply.

I have Pemphigus Vulgaris, a fairly rare autoimmune disease. Without
prednisone the 5 year mortality rate is 100%.

My physician lowered my prednisone to 50mg two days ago, and I expect to be
down to 40mg in less than a month. Dosage is really condition dependent.
This is a really nasty drug, with nasty side effects, but it saves lives
across the board with so many diseases.

If I read your advice correctly, black cherry ice cream with chocolate syrup
and whipped cream is medicine. I wont feel guilty now.

    Thanks,

    Fred

Then you no doubt have a full and productive life and track record for
suffering in your martyrdom for the secondary effects of bigotry.

Good answer. And notice they can't refute the data. A bad business
model demands this kind of gutter defense, it's all they have left.

Care to translate that into plain English?

The downtown branch of the City of Richmond public library has JAMA
sitting in plain view on their magazine rack. A new issue of JAMA

Telling yourself is a good idea. It leads to self knowledge, and one day
you will find that you are not worth knowing.
