could you not have ridden around him with minimal course or speed
change if it was unbusy? A ped and a bike on a quiet road ought to be
able to avoid shouting even if one party is not particularly
cooperative

He was walking across a main road with no other traffic at a slant,
partially in the direction I was going. I was doing 18-20mph and I'd
have had to slow to walking pace to ride around him. He just needed a
little encouragement to break step for a moment seeing as I had right
of way ;o)
