acrivastine simply a British name for what is known as
diphenhydramine in the USA? Or does the manufacturer of
Benadryl market a different product in the UK?

Benadryl is a different product in the UK. Benadryl (normal)
is Acrivastine.

(By the way Benadryl (plus) is Cetirizine Hydrocloride (like
Zirtek - Zyrtek in the US and non-prescription)

It is Acrivastine which has caused me problems. I believe a
similar product is available in the US 'Semprex-D' or
something similar...

I haven't heard anything about allergy medication and kidney
disorder (though I wouldn't be surprised by such findings).
Recent reports link many anti-histamine's with heart
disorders, and is particularily bad if you have a pre-
existing heard condition. These findings were just released
in the past day or two, so if you do another google now you
might turn up something.

Thanks for the comments, well I am pretty convinced it was
my Kidneys it was affecting, I haven't taken any Acrivastine
for 10 days (I have used a nasal spray instead) and have
felt much better.

Crazy, and confusing, especially when MDs have the bad habit
of using the brand name for a drug without saying the
generic name. So if the doc prescribes Benadryl, I guess you
have to ask him which one, what is the generic name?

I have a free professional sample pack of two Zyrtec-D 12
Hour extended release tablets sitting in the bathroom
medicine cabinet ever since somebody who got it from her
doctor gave the package to me on a warm night in June 2002.
Expiration is/was 1 DEC 03. Each tablet contains 5 mg
cetirizine hydrochloride and 120 mg pseudoephedrine
hydrochloride. One of the first things I noticed was the
recommended storage temperature range, 20 to 25 C.
