  1. My husband had a sigmoid colectomy 2 wks ago, he finds he feels like he cannot evacuate all of his
    stool since the surgery. Is this common does it resolve? Sharon

    There is a settling in period of some weeks or up to a few months after colectomy with anastomosis
    (rejoining of the bowel) . I would not be worried if this was his only symptom at this stage. He
    should have normal bowel function later..

    I am two weeks post sigmoid colectomy and am having the same problem you described. Did your husbands bowels recover or did he have to have something else done? It's difficult to find information on this particular topic lol. Any information you can share will be appreciated.
