Nope just push their bike up 20 yards of slope to get back to the road... A sign would be a good idea, but it's lack of it is hardly a disaster.

So have Sustrans fired their spokesman who went on national radio recently and announced that their objective was to get school children off the roads and onto cycling facilities as quickly as possible?
Paul Osborne disputed that he announced that. I did not hear the interview and I have no transcript, so it is difficult for me to take it further.
I was told 'Sustrans certainly does not want to give the impression that on-road cycling is dangerous'

We're expected to vanish for years when local councils haven't finished building a route! I remember a brother meeting a steamroller and sinking into wet tarmac about 12 years ago on one route.
In *theory* cycle routes should be signed as any other national route, with roadworks and/or diversion signs. In *practice* council cycle signing budgets are amazingly small: GBP 10k pa for Norfolk (while the recent marketing campaign got 17k IIRC).
