MRT is further from Portland than I thought. I was hoping to fly in, hotel, ride and fly back out, but that's not going to work any way I slice it.
Well, Penny will be in Eugene and Gab will be around Bend (I think), so those are closer options that might allow you to do that. Bend would probably be closer (both highway and air wise).
There actually is a grass airfield right near the trailhead, depending on how daring your pilot (and his passenger!) is (do a Google search on "McKenzie Bridge State Airport"😉.
Yup, that's where we plan to set 'er down. His rig is set up for short take-off/landing.
I've got an outside chance of a ride home from Bend.

Give dirt dart a ring. 895 dash eight thousand. He wants to go to Bend this month, anyway. It might come together. If work stays slow, I might try to go, too.

as this thing starts to take on logritmic porportions.... Do you think that meeting at the trailhead will prevent the molasses effect?

There's a fair amount of info about the air field on the pages that Google turns up. It doesn't appear to be terribly short (2600'😉, but rough as hell, very windy, and surrounded by huge trees. And of course no lights, but its not like we have a whole lot of darkness this time of year!
I just realized I'm on call this weekend, so I can't leave town. I might try some groveling to see if someone would take my on-call day, but that's tough to do in mid-summer.
Bummed, -- -BB- To reply to me, drop the attitude (from my e-mail address, at least)

Bummed,
Looks like I'm not going to be able to make mine work either.

It doesn't sound like anyone can make it, that stinks (sucks?). If things change let me know and I can still shuttle folks. Otherwise I'm going to scout for "new" (to me) trails down in my neck of the woods (south Lane area). Keep the rubber side down (or up in some instances).
