Read the consumer reviews (at least on Amazon). Often, if the shipper
has done a poor job of packing, several people will say so -- a good
indicator to stay away from that particular vendor, unless you're ok
dealing with potentially returning damaged merchandise.

To date, I've had no problem. But I've also been cautious not to order
products that have bad reviews.

Hmm -- not sure what that means. I DO have a "nospam" added to my e-mail
address as protection against addy collecting bots. I wonder if that's

My Ice Cream maker was bought from http://www.cutleryandmore.com/
And delivered via post office....no problem at all....mine was the
Cuisinartice 50...it was sent box inside box as you stated. If you get the
ups delivery I see no problems in your future. Mine was a tad long on the
delivery timetable, but I don't live in the u s of a.

it'll pay for itself in no time. Be sure to get shipping insurance,
just in case (I think?). Alas, I have no knowledge of these kinds of
machines. I'm lucky to have the KA stand mixer attachment. Hm, I
wonder if that would do the job? Maybe try that first? Just wondering
.. . . . 😉

I love cutleryandmore, but they don't have what I want.
Funny thing here, and 'no one knows anything' about why, is that UPS will
(sometimes) leave packages at our PO, and the PO will deliver. I've called
and asked the seller and they can't tell me either.
I sure prefer a box in a box, but this particular machine says, shipped in
its own box. :-(

My KA has been put away for use ONLY for the pasta roller attachment. I
know that the KA has an attachment for an ice cream maker and others have
used it successfully, but I have had the electric "put- cannister- in
freezer" Cuisinart for 2 seasons now, and since I do make ice cream often,
I'm seriously thinking about it; only draw back is the size and weight. DH
does all the hauling-to-the-counter appliances for me, and he's not too
enthusiastic about this. However, he has no problem woofing down the ice
cream. ;-) Darlings, they are.

I don't know about cooking.com, but on Amazon the shipping is free.
(One less thing to pay for). Also, Amazon has an excellent guarantee
and return policy no matter where the item is shipped from.

If you use the KA stand mixer solely for making pasta, maybe try its ice
cream attachment and see if you like it before spending that much moulah
on another dedicated machine? That way, your KA can get more use other
than just for pasta. The KA ice cream attachment can probably be found
locally from a Linens-n-Things or B3 (Bed, Bath & Beyond), and it's a
heck of a lot less expensive. If you don't like the KA ice cream
attachment, it can be easily returned for a refund (usually). Just an
idea to consider perhaps?

undecided as to which I would get, the KA attachment or the Cuisinart, so I
will not have to make that decision again. I'm going for the compressor. I
wish I'd bought one years ago, but actually in the 70's, they were around
$600.

I've never seen the Cuisinart ice cream maker, so I can't compare the
two. As it is, I rarely make ice cream with my KA attachment, so I'm
certainly no expert <g>. Regardless of which one you purchase, I hope
you enjoy it with gusto 😉

i have mostly dealt with amazon for music c.d.'s, but they have
handled returns without much fuss and bother, even from subcontracting
vendors.

I got an email in my box from someone who read my posting and answered that
they had bought the same brand, but a smaller one, and Amazon had
bigger-boxed itin the box it came in; and he said that he had bought a
service plan. I think this is what I'll do. It's hard for me to forget my
problem with Amazon when I received broken Food Saver canisters. It was not
as easy as some say, but I have had another problem much later that was
taken care of easily, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The last CD I bought from Amazon had a bad chunk in one of the long
segments. Really ticked me off, but I never returned it, as I don't/didn't
know if it was one they were selling or all were that way. It's been too
long now to do anything about it; don't intend to.

But I have sold some DVD's on Amazon -- for instance, all the Sopranos boxed
sets, I sold as soon as I put them for sale.

But that doesn't preclude an outer box. Maybe it's been refurbished and
