Yo, got the heartrate thing couple of weeks ago and the highest number I have seen is 187bpm (I'm 45 yrs) that was a near all out effort of more than a couple of minutes to produce that number. Saw it that high again in a frenzied sprint finish so I am assuming that is my 'max'.
Today I only had an hour so I did a good 10min warmup then tried to go hard for 40mins. Well rested legs were heavy/uncomfortable most of the way, breathing was ok, 90+rpms, heartrate never goes above 160, hovering around 155 most of the time... after 40 mins I got some green lights and kept it going and the heartrate went up to 166...
Any advice / analysis would be helpful, I feel that I am fine sitting in the pack but cant take much of a pull or attack for more than a few hundred meters...
If this is my hardest effort is my training too easy?
thanks a lot,
curby
