While standing near the OLN broadcast booth on Alp d'Huez last July, I
    had
the misfortune to witness Al remove his shirt after his broadcast
    segment.
I'm still trying to forget that...

Ooo.. someone touched a nerve there. Got more hair on your back than on
    your head?

As a matter of fact I have more hair on my knuckles than I have on my head.
Doesn't bother me in the least. But that pusgut certainly does and not
enough time to do anything about it until I retire.

Sorry, Tom. I didn't know you had a thing for Al :-)...(besides, it was a
    joke).

FWIW, I'm 52 and bald....but, IMHO I look a hell of a lot better than Al
with my shirt off. On the other hand, he gets to hang out with Kirsten
    Gum
and I don't, so there you go.

Just heckling you Gary. No pain no gain.

Well they can't exactly count on Hunter S. Thompson to do any fear and
loathing on the road to Paris. Not after he popped his own cork.

Now I'm wondering where O'Grady is going to go for his mentoring.

    With any luck, Bloom County.

Opus is a pale shade of Bloom County. Breathed admitted that most of
his ideas fans enjoyed the most were the product of rapidly approaching
deadlines and sleep deprevation. Seems to work for a lot of creative
    people.

    You watch dog shows?

    No wonder you're posting anonymously.

Not the person to ask about dog show commentary...

It certainly isn't surprising to me that the same person who watches dog
shows doesn't like Trautwig. Al may not be the idea announcer but he isn't

Haha... let's face it, we all know plenty of guys in their 50s who
look great shirtless, due to years of cycling etc. We're cyclists
dammit! We all have the physiques of 25 year olds! However, I don't
think old trautwig is exactly mr macrobiotic.

have you ever gone to a public swimming pool? today's supersized kids
    are indeed scary also.

I agree. GEt them on bikes!

So I'm telling someone at work that (yesterday) when I get home I'll
spend an hour on the trainer, dripping sweat all over the floor and
burning a few calories. And they said, "wow, I wish I could do that."

Duh. Get a bike and a trainer.

    OLD should recruit Robin Williams.

  12. 31 (now 32) posts about a guy who USED to do commentating for the TDF.
I'd rather go this deeply into Kristen Gum's life.

Two middle aged women in the locker room were talking about some guy
at the gym. "He can do those lunges carrying like 20 pound weights!"
one of them marveled. I admit, I don't know who this guy is, for all I
know he could be 80 years old. But I thought, "So what? I can ride my
bike up Mount Pleasant!" (a local hilly road popular among cyclists
for its winding steepness, and nicknamed Mount Unpleasant).OF course,
these two women would have had no idea what I was talking about.

They're used to loading up the leg press machine with 50lbs & doing
their 8 reps. As if they don't put 3X that on their feet every time they
    step.

Our gym held a semi-formal leg press competition using a 45-degree sled.
The winner pushed 1250lbs. I quit at 950. After limiting myself to 250
for safety reasons, it was a real eye-opener.

LOL. Just the other day I was at the gym, and a lot of the people who
go there are not exactly into sports. They're mostly gymmies or body
builders who look like Powdered Toast Man.

Two middle aged women in the locker room were talking about some guy
at the gym. "He can do those lunges carrying like 20 pound weights!"

Of course, it's not like I ride my bike up there exceedingly FAST...
