  1. Saw Al do the dog show. At one point he said one particular dog could
be a linebacker for NY Jets. I'm ashamed that OLN spoiled the last Tour de
France with such an inept buffoon.

    You watch dog shows?

    No wonder you're posting anonymously.

  3. Yeah, but what would US cycling be without its comedy relief? Every
network has done this since they've shown the Tour: Trautwig, Posey
("this is really good stuff!), Salinger (Oh my god, please tell me more
of the wine country and forget the race), Barry Tompkins (boxing
anybody?) and who can forget Beth Ruyak (sp?) and her behind closed
doors info on Lemond. I would bet that Trautwig probably owns a lot of
stock in these companies, or is the illegitimate of some exec.

It certainly isn't surprising to me that the same person who watches dog
shows doesn't like Trautwig. Al may not be the idea announcer but he isn't a
    bad guy. I've seen worse.

While standing near the OLN broadcast booth on Alp d'Huez last July, I had

I'm still trying to forget that...

Well they can't exactly count on Hunter S. Thompson to do any fear and
loathing on the road to Paris. Not after he popped his own cork.

Now I'm wondering where O'Grady is going to go for his mentoring.

Sorry, Tom. I didn't know you had a thing for Al :-)...(besides, it was a
    joke).

FWIW, I'm 52 and bald....but, IMHO I look a hell of a lot better than Al
with my shirt off. On the other hand, he gets to hang out with Kirsten Gum
and I don't, so there you go.

Buck Laughlin would be much, much better.

    Courtesy of IMDB:

    Memorable Quotes from
    Best in Show (2000)

Buck Laughlin: Excuse me if this off the subject a little bit, but just
take a guess at how much I can bench press. Come on, what do you think?
Take a guess. 315 pounds, maxing out at 400!
    *
Buck Laughlin: Now tell me, which one of these dogs would you want to
have as your wide receiver on your football team?
    *
Buck Laughlin: Tell me, do you know the difference between a rectal
    thermometer and a tongue depressor?
    Nurse: Uh, no.
Buck Laughlin: Remind me never to come to you for a physical!
    *
Buck Laughlin: That looks like a fast dog
    *
Buck Laughlin: Doctor, question that's always bothered me and a lot of
people: Mayflower, combined with Philadelphia - a no-brainer, right?
Cause this is where the Mayflower landed. Not so. It turns out Columbus
actually set foot somewhere down in the West Indies. Little known fact.
    *
Buck Laughlin: And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten.
    *
Buck Laughlin: I went to one of those obedience places once... it was
all going well until they spilled hot candle wax on my private parts.
    *
Buck Laughlin: I'd hate to go on a date with Judge Edie Franklin and
have her judge me, that'd be no fun.
    *
Buck Laughlin: I don't think I could ever get used to being poked and
prodded. I told my proctologist one time, "Why don't you take me out to
    dinner and a movie sometime?"
    *
Buck Laughlin: Am I nuts? Something's wrong with his feet.
Trevor Beckwith: I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but you're
    right.
Buck Laughlin: He's got two left feet.

Haha... let's face it, we all know plenty of guys in their 50s who
look great shirtless, due to years of cycling etc. We're cyclists
dammit! We all have the physiques of 25 year olds! However, I don't
think old trautwig is exactly mr macrobiotic.

Fred Willard's best work IMO disappeared into the ether. Fernwod
Tonight with Martin Mull was better than almost any late night TV show
done for real. Better group of guests, too.

And best line in a TV late show, real or surreal, "I'd rather have a
bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy'. If that were a truism,
some people on rbr could be assumed to be teetotalers.

have you ever gone to a public swimming pool? today's supersized kids
