  1. I enjoy reading the rants about all the newbies!
All of this current crop of "old-timers" and "big-shots" that are the
    current resident authorities are newbies.
For many, many years I have been reading and occasionally posting here.
I watch the self proclaimed experts show up for a time and then they are
gone to be replaced by the next bunch of buffoons... They seem to assume
a proprietary attitude that requires them to respond to every post sent
    to the group.
Occasionally a new crop will appear with some dignity and grace but on
the most part as soon as they learn to spell carbohydrate they are
required to resort to vulgarity and insult.
For those of you who are indeed new, be patient, the jerks will pass on
and some nice folks will appear or reappear. Hopefully soon!
I assure you much of the sarcastic advise you are getting here is
anything but well based and should be ignored. Get into the book of your
choice for the correct answers. It really is a personal thing.
FYI I have been on a low-carb regimen since 1973 for many reasons. It
works, but it must fit your individual needs.
OK, I'll write again in a year or two!
    Here's hoping for some civility!

    George

P.S. Thanks for the neat recipes!

  2. In a post in 2004 you said: "We replied that we observed a low carb approach
and have been off and on for over thirty years."

I wish I had found Atkins' book in '73 (or '72). However, I would hope to
be reporting a 30 year Way Of Life, and not an on-and-off carbs pattern,
when posting to USENET once a year.

There is a need here for success reports that really do represent 30 years.
Would you care to share your statistics?

  5. x-no-archive: yes

No, not a troll, I recall him from years ago. He had a daughter who was
    a regular, too.

IIRC, he made some kind of very un PC remark or something that got him
in severe hot water around here, and kind of booked after that.

  6. Yes Susan, it is I. I have not "booked". I've never left. I just
sorta read and watch. As my original post indicated, the cycle seems
    to perpetuate itself.
I appreciate the positive things and am appalled at the vulgarity and
cruelty that is displayed and condoned. If any one of us were in a room
with someone who replied to us in the language and tone of some of the
current respondents, we would be compelled to slap them in the face. I
    do hope that isn't "un-pc".
It is good to hear from you.

  7. Sorry, I am never "compelled" to slap someone in the face, not only is that
ruder than any words could possibly be but it is assault under the law and
could put you in jail. The best way to deal with rudeness is to ignore it.

George, it's mostly not condoned, it's mostly kill filed. I have a full
KF and I don't see the garbage you speak of. I highly recommend it. :-)

I guess I'm a quart lower on testosterone; I'd just leave the room or
invite the other person to, if the room were mine.

You, too. How's LC been treating you? I can't remember who the poster
was who was your daughter, just that she was a very active participant
here and that you all are related to Dolly Parton.

Hi, George. Nice to "meet" you.

I know what you mean about some of the civility levels. I don't know
if what you said is "un-pc" or not. :-)

What I do know is that I can't even remember the last time I was
actually in a room with people who behaved the way some do here, and I
    don't lead a sheltered life.

The annonymity of the internet just doesn't bring out the best in some
people. I'd be very surprised if they behave in "real life" the same
    way they behave here. :-)

Thanks for asking. My daughter's name is Pam and she was known as
luvmedotwo. She now resides in Vegas where we visited her last week.
Unfortunately she developed some serious physical problems but she is
    recovering nicely.
As for how LC is treating me. It has been instrumental in keeping me
alive. I have an irreversible illness (lupus) that requires me taking
copious amounts of steroids and other chemicals. Were it not for LC it
would require a fork lift to get me around! The lower pain levels are
    also an incentive.
I do appreciate the posts that are informative, especially the simple
recipes. It makes life much easier.
    Thanks,
    Until next time,

Yes, I find that LC completely rid me of body aches and pain, too,
    including FMS.

Steroids really can bloat you and make you ravenous.

Have you had a good infectious diseases workup for possible pathogens,
such as tick borne diseases, that can appear as lupus? Or an empiric
trial of doxycyline? Nunamybidness, but some folks get lucky this way.

  12. Yeah, George, I remember when a troll was 'unusual'.
Now, half the people are 'tweaking' low carb until it is barely
    recognizable.
I remember you from another list, I think, not sure which one.
Ya just have to keep picking and choosing.
