  1. Just got off the phone with TimC

Apparently Yesterday on his ride to Swinburne, was heading west along Burwood Rd @ 10:30amish.
WKL's are there but at this time of day parked cars make them redundant/non-existent.
Riding along and 4WD passes and then pulls in to left, no indicator

bit vague as to exactly what happened next but the words, sliding, face/head, ouch were mentioned.
Apparently fractured eyesocket, broken nose, stitches and lots of missing skin. He's still in Alfred but going home today.
The silly fecker wanted to rock up to the BoroondaraBUG meeting tonight but I told him that couch/ice-cream and cats should be the only menu item for him!

Police and Ambulance attended. driver stopped and (i think) passenger 'suffered' shock. Male driver (dunno why Im puttin that in. just typing all i heard...)

Oh, and apparently the bike is 'OK' and with Police but is getting different reports on that front 🙁

chin up Tim (or should that be 'down', or 'back in original place' ?)

Perhaps the Driver was getting frustrated at sitting on Tim's wheel whilst he madly changed thru all 27 gears, twiddling assunder 😉

Ouch. Poor guy; he seems to be getting all the bad breaks this year. 🙁
For what little it's worth, Tim, my thoughts are with you for a speedy
    (and complete) recovery.

    Damn 'n [censored]!!!

Tim. Heal up quick and get back on the bike - the _REALLY_ good cycling
    weather is nearly here..

If only you'd asked first I c(w)ould've told you in no uncertain terms
to NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES hit, or slide along, the road using your
face and head - it only results in pain and stitches and broken bits
and other stuff.... <gloat>at least my ambulance was a chopper</gloat>

[censored]! Sorry for reading this so late in the day, off doing other things....ok...call to arms, whatever for WoJ'ers & PubBUGer's for our fallen comrade. Who wants to hand around the helmet & get a collection going for a Goat & Chocolate "Get Well Soon Tim" Pack? On the proviso Tim can only eat/imbibe it all when he's better, and we'll all present too...

GET WELL SOON TIM!!! and get them for every $$$ you can!!!

  18. Thinking of you, Tim-bob. Hope you're remade faster and stronger than
before using some sort of medical technology.

That really sucks the big one - and after all that prep he's been doing for ATB as well.

    Get well soon Timbo...

I've got a couple of lovely pictures of blood and gore, but alas, I
cannot seem to download them from the camera. Has it really been 60
days since I last downloaded photos (when I last upgraded the
    kernel)?

Basically verbatim from what I sent to BBUG:

I was hit by a hulking big 4WD yesterday, on Burwood road, 10m west of
Alburn road (outside 570 burwood road) -- there's probably still a
helmet mirror there, don't seem to have lost anything else (but
haven't checked what is normally attached to the bike). Only just got
    home from the hospital.

The stupid driver was going traffic speed (less than my own speed), and
then all of a sudden turned into park, barely slowing down, and only
putting the indicators on at the very last moment).

I was knocked over the handlebars, after I think being caught in the wheel
well of the 4WD. My face helpfully took all of the impact -- I remember
sliding along the road on just the front of my face. Helmet has a small
dent in the top front, but otherwise, my eye socket, nose, teeth, jaw and
chin took most of the blow.

Broken nose (will be left alone til it heals naturally), several fractures
in eye socket, possibly jaw, etc, splinted teeth, and stiched up chin (the
plastic surgeon did a very good job apparently, partly because there was a
TV crew in front of him. I'm going to be on the next series of some show
called something like "Medical Emergency". Can't remember what channel).

    So, that's stolen vehicle 1, SUVs 3, TimC 0. 🙁

Home now, got to find some mushy food. Got to talk to the police, and
find out where I can pick my bike up from.

Got a list of items to get paid for or replaced: glasses, possibly
bike, helmet, helmet mirror, jersey, ATB ticket, lost rent (while I am
not writing my thesis, I am still paying rent, but we'll see whether a
    court will think like that).
