well of the 4WD. My face helpfully took all of the impact -- I remember
sliding along the road on just the front of my face. Helmet has a small
dent in the top front, but otherwise, my eye socket, nose, teeth, jaw and
chin took most of the blow.

Broken nose (will be left alone til it heals naturally), several fractures
in eye socket, possibly jaw, etc, splinted teeth, and stiched up chin (the
plastic surgeon did a very good job apparently, partly because there was a
TV crew in front of him. I'm going to be on the next series of some show
called something like "Medical Emergency". Can't remember what channel).

So, that's stolen vehicle 1, SUVs 3, TimC 0. 🙁

Home now, got to find some mushy food. Got to talk to the police, and
find out where I can pick my bike up from.

Got a list of items to get paid for or replaced: glasses, possibly
bike, helmet, helmet mirror, jersey, ATB ticket, lost rent (while I am
not writing my thesis, I am still paying rent, but we'll see whether a
court will think like that).

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear this. Maybe we should campaign for full face
cycling helmets?

I would suggest not blowing your nose if you have a fractured eye
socket, but a broken nose will stop you doing that...

Tim. Take everything damaged to a good shop like bike life. Including
clothing and helmet. Everything. Get a quote for the lot. Send it to
the driver right away.

[censored], Tim. Glad to hear you survived. It's good you are at home - you can look through a few magazines and pick the shape of your new nose for when they re-set it. Oh and carbon fibre cheekbones and titanium jaw should be the go too.

Are you getting sympathy from the furry helpers, or do they think, as most cats would that you are just staying home to pander to their wishes?

Oh, and Rum & Coke is consdiered to be an appropriate pick-me-up when your face is a bit tender. If it's food you need, you should be getting a few Guinesses into you.

down, he was a bit white -- and probably suffering from shock.

The St John's nurse who happened to be walking nearby (and did a good
job of keeping me from going unconcious) at the time seemed to be a
bit of a looker, from what I could tell. Might have to find her to
thank her 🙂

The constable is in tomorrow afternoon, so I'll give him a call and
ascertain the damage to the bike. Anyone know where Boroondara police
centre, or the like, is? Is it that new one near Cotham road, Kew? I
might become an "element known to police" there -- caught some bugger
trying to steal stuff from offices at work.

My own opinion. Good nurses are never a waste of time. At the least
they make good mates. A nurse mate of mine is due friday for the ATB,
little old for you Tim and probably a little fast 🙂
