4 cycle carriers

Four bikes is a lot of weight to have bouncing around and hanging out the back. You may find the
steering goes a bit light with the weight which can easily be more than the recommended towing nose
weight I've got the Pendle rack for four bikes which mounts into its own socket behind the towball
but I'm not sure I'd trust four bikes to the door mounted variety. Also check the door will take it.
These days some rear doors are made of plastic and have to have special rack mountings. My
preference for four bikes is either all on the roof or two on the roof, two on the back.

I have the Tradekar Take 4, which came from www.roofbox.co.uk - they stock a wide range of makes.
I'd be wary of putting four bikes on a rack which was not supported on a towing bracket. What car
are you using? My Volvo estate is OK with that amount of weight out the back, but I did fit spring
assisters.

I'd agree with that - the weight of two bikes seriously dented the boot on my Proton some years back
- which is why I went for a twoball mounted carrier - and even then two bikes, in some conditions,
could alter the steering noticably. (I'm not allowed a towbar on the new car - so I've got to go to
a roof rack).

I recently bought a 4 bike Rhode Gear Pro carrier on ebay (£28 I think) and it is a serious bit of kit! Whilst I have never had more than one bike on it, compared to others I have seen, it is very sturdy and secure and I wouldn't hesitate to put four bikes on it if I could ride that many at once!

The way the tailgate thuds when you shut it suggests to me that its metal... But I'll check.
