Has anyone experience of Twinny cycle carriers ? They fit onto your tow ball and have built in lighting. The bikes rest on their wheels rather than hang by the cross bar (maybe not good for lightweight road frames ?) and arent piled onto each other with the risk of damage - scratches etc.
Wiggle have the basic model £116.99 though out of stock until Sept plus £76 for the 3rd cycle adaptor. Bit pricey compared to other carriers but look pretty secure. Currently using a simple 2 bike tow bar carrier with a lighting board but need to carry 3 and never like the look of 'the hang on to the body work' carriers especially with the weight of 3 bikes.

I've got the Twinny Prestige Ergo for two bikes and it works fine - the bike is held by the bottom bracket and clamp on the crank arm which makes it easy to carry odd framed bikes. The wheel holding is extra but not the main fixing. Its quite heavy, the Ergo quick release works very well and has a lock so you can leave it securely on the towball without it being stolen. Weaknesses - weight, mine has corroded badly but I'm having it replaced under warranty and the crank clamp arms are not attached so you have to make sure you don't loose them.

You need to get a number plate on it as it hides the existing one. Lights work fine, except that our stupid Vectra insisted on beeping loudly when we used the indicators when we had the rack attached, probably to warn us that we were about to make a turn with a caravan or something...
