Where I used to live, in Middlesbrough we used to regularly stop at a cyclist friendly cafe in Great Ayton (Suggits). A mecca for cyclists with delicious ice-cream. Does anyone know of any similar places in central Scotland where cyclists regularly congregate?
Next question does anyone know of any good clubs in the area who are genuinely welcoming of new members and are into leisure road ridding rather than race or mountain biking?

Perhaps you could narrow down "Central Scotland" a bit more?

In a line drawn between Edinburgh and Glasgow in the south then north for around 50 miles or so to draw in the north line

that's still in the 200~250 sq miles region .
yes it is. my bike is quite mobile!
Wasn't saying it was too far to travel (root 4100~5000 miles at the worst) [mind you cycling 70 miles each way is a bit more than I would like to do] basically that in that large an area there will be more than 1 congregating/meeting point.

Sure. All I was asking is for people to name them for me. Anywhere within that area.
I've a similar question (but a smaller target area!) - i've just moved near Dumbarton, about 15 miles north of Glasgow. The CTC website lists about 15 road clubs in the area, but the 2 or 3 i've rang up all talk about training for time trials and the like. I just want some like-minded people to do 50 or so miles with on a sunday morning to give me more reason to get up n out when its raining (which is *every* sunday in the west of scotland). Anybody know of or part of any of the Glasgow area clubs that might fit the bill?
Paul
