They probably told you not to bother with CDs, as Vinyl was
better. DTT offers massively improved reception in areas
with multipath --- like where I live --- and the bit rates
are excellent.
And anyway, one cannot help but be reminded of the NAIM
tuner gang, endlessly harping on about the subtle analogue
quality of Radio 3, utterly deaf to the fact that unless
they live close to Crystal Palace all the radio stuff is
distributed with NICAM anyway.

Well, you can join the vinyl gang: constantly harping on
(wrongly) about the quality of their material, ignoring the
fact that for practical purposes nothing new has been
released on vinyl in a decade. Analogue will become a
dumping ground for dross --- all the decent BBC
documentaries have already flown the coop to BBC4, for
example --- until its shutoff. Analogue radio may last a
little longer, mostly because the frequencies it uses are
less desirable.
