    -Barb, <www.jamlady.eboard.com> Sam I Am updated 5/30/04.
Only 7 days until my birthday. "Shop early, shop often, shop
big." Good gin and cheap chocolate preferred. Or is it cheap
gin and good chocolate? I can never remember. . . .A diamond
bracelet would be nice. . .

Thanks, Barb-a-licious. If only some hair would sprout on
    my head...

OBFood: I need side dish ideas for the barbecued ribs we're
having tonight. (It's a sign of a true food-guy that he
    cooks his own birthday dinner.)

How about some vinegar-based coleslaw with lots of cumin
and/or cilantro? As hot as it is in Cow Hill, you don't want
    mayo on top of ribs.

    Happy birthday!

Warm basil pesto rice salad, made with arborio rice?

Although I know exactly what you meant by that last
sentence, it strikes me as very funny in a revolting-food-
    combo sort of way.

Actually, I'd settled on some sort of slaw after a quick
trip to the store proved that no vegetables worth eating
were available. I also got some sort of melon (crenshaw,
maybe?) and a couple of avocados and some lemons, which,
with chili powder and a chiffonade of basil and some lemon
verbena and some olive oil, I'll conjure into a salad.

It's not terrifically hot in Cow Hill at present. Mid 90s,
is my guess. Regardless, I have on my new birthday present
swimsuit (no, not birthday suit, swimsuit), and the pool
    is calling.

Thanks, Margaret. I'm about to go out for some birthday
beer. I'm thinking it'll be Shiner Bock.

The ribs have been in the pit for nearly five hours now.
    Time to make a sauce.

This sounds very good, but D's doing South Beach, so carbs
are not an option. Actually, ribs probably are verboten, as
well, but it's my birthday and I get to choose.
