Very funny you mention "not your hero" - I do admire all that he's overcome but he is not my hero anymore either. I really thought he was a great role model but with the divorce and after reading his book - I'm not so sure - he came off really "strange" in his book. But, I've never faced cancer so perhaps that's why I can't relate. - Linda "Tony" <qtrader2@(remove)hotmail.com> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

I don't think it's just the cancer you can't relate to. Like you, I came away deeply impressed after reading "It's not about the bike" but also realised that there's no necessary correlation between "being a fantastic athlete who's overcome amazing adversity" and "being a nice guy".
I strongly suspect that if you have what it takes to be a top athlete, your probably less likely than average to be a "nice" guy. Who was it who said "Nice guys finish last"?
