Splenda is fine. Aspartame is fine. Stevia is good too, however the afrertaste is brutal, and it
tastes like licorice.

Depends on what form you use it in. I have the packets, and I don't taste any licorice at all. I'm
slowly weaning myself off of products that use Aspartame (nutrasweet). Been using it for years, and
I'm sure that there has to be SOME kind of damage done, even if it's minor. Plus, I'm also a renal
patient, so I figure less artificial products in, then I won't build up as many toxins (since
dialysis doesn't remove all of them).
Here's some info on Stevia Joan. You can come to your own conclusions:

How can she be expected to come to her own conclusion, when the only information sources you give
are stevia puff sites?
Why is stevia banned by the European Union, and (I think) Japan too, as dangerous? Why is stevia
*not allowed* to be sold as a sweetener in the US, but only as a "dietary supplement" because it
doesn't have to have FDA approval to be sold in this manner?
Why is Aspartame under none of these restrictions?
RE: your statement: "Been using it (Aspartame) for years, and I'm sure that there has to be SOME
kind of damage done, even if it's minor." What basis does that statement have in fact? None. You
have decided that there is something wrong with Aspartame, because there must be something wrong
with it to fit your belief structures.
If Aspartame is so toxic, and dangerous, why aren't the hospitals filled with those who have become
sick from using it? People should be dropping like flies from drinking Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke, etc.
They aren't because there is nothing wrong with it, other than the tiny percentage that have an
allergic reaction to it. There are many more people who are allergic to peanuts, and/or shellfish,
but I have never heard anyone tell the population not to use them.
If you are going to present information here for people to believe, why don't you try to present
both sides, instead of pushing a dangerous substance on people? The reason I am only presenting one
side, is because you have already presented the other.

Because she has probably heard the "other" side of things, and isn't aware of the benefits of
Stevia. Many people here in the US do not, and I'm not surprised.

Try again. It was a GUESS. Never did I say that the statement was fact. I say that I'm pretty sure
of the damage, because anything that is chemical and synthetic can't possibly be good either in
large quantities OR long term use.

Just because you don't hear about those who DO get sick from Aspartame use doesn't mean it doesn't
happen. Oh and I've heard plenty of people who ARE allergic to peanuts and shellfish who are told to
not use them. It would be silly to tell them otherwise...don't you think?

I would be very wary of Splenda (article link here:
suewidemark.comsplenda.htmOpen ↗). Stevia is much safer,
and actually can benefit diabetics. Stevia comes in a thick
molasses-like liquid or in a fine white powder. The powder I
use does not have the aftertaste to me, but is very
concentrated, so many people use too much. A 1 oz.
concentrate costs $8.95 wholesale from New Sun Health
Products ($25.00 membership required, which includes a
nutritional training book). Their order number is (800) 544-

I agree with JDH. Aspartime is not the really enemy here. It
is the over consumption of aspartime. Aspartime is a
synthetic sweetener, not a food group, so anyone who over
consumes the sweetener, or over consumes any food or
beverage for that matter, is doing a disservice to their
"balenced" diet.

But isn't that the "rub"? So many products are now infused
with it, that it would be hard for someone to avoid
consuming it in large volumes (especially diabetics), and
the government makes it harder to obtain and infuse most
products with Stevia (which is natural).

I didn't say it was not sold. Only that you would not
find it listed as a sweetner in any legal commercial food
as a sweetner.
And since when has being sold on the internet had any
bearing on the legality of anything?

And all I said was that it's not illegal for it to be
SOLD..never MIND that it's not considered a "sweetener" by
the government (perhaps that is what YOU meant by
"illegal"😉.
The reason wanted to make the clarification is because if
you tell people something is illegal, they may wonder as to
why they are seeing it on the shelves of places like Whole
Foods Market. For instance, everyone knows that street drugs
like cocaine, etc. are ILLEGAL, and therefore if you are
caught with those drugs, you will go to jail. The selling
and distribution of said drugs will also bring on the same
consequences. This doesn't happen with the sale and
distribution of Stevia products either in store on online.
Wouldn't there be a roundup of people being arrested if it
was illegal to sell Stevia?
The only thing that the FDA claims about Stevia is that it
is an "unapproved food additive". "Unapproved" does not
equal "illegal". There are many things out there that have
been unapproved by the FDA, but are perfectly fine to sell
to consumers (take note of the many legal drug commercials
on TV and in print and check out the disclaimer...not
approved or tested by the FDA). In fact, the FDA themselves
has questioned the legality of its use, but from what I have
read, it didn't deem Stevia to be illegal (at least, not
since 1991, when they TRIED to deem it illegal).
