Up Black Fell from Hartside Cafe today. Two questions:
1. Is the summit of Black Fell the trig point or the hillock
where the lovely old wall (LOW) traipses up the fellside?
I ask as when we went up Saturday, the GPS elevation was
1m higher on the LOW, not only when we went over, but
also (2 hours later) when we came back from Grey Nag.
This was on both our GPS's. May well be a blip combined
with GPS positioning not being 100%, but wondered if
anyone else has checked it; the OS show a 3m diff.
2. What would it take to get those sad t**** on bikes, who
infest the Hartside Cafe, a life? Just a little life....
Jeez. I parked my car there today, to nip up Fiends Fell and
Melmerby Fell. Came back down (11.30 am) and it was like
striding into a colony of black basking seals.
All they seem to want to do is to pat each others' machines.
Managed to pilot the car out of the car park (not easy, as
there were massed ranks of Yamaha blocking me), and then
sped down to Penrith, overtaken on every available bend (not
the straights mind...) by 56 year old lunatics. I
despair......I really
do....
