  1. I saw some time ago where some woman is duplicating that
guy's result's that he wound up practically dying from
eating there 3 times a day.

Only, she's eating from the lighter side of the menu, and
not just All Salad, All the Time.

    Last I heard, she'd lost 12 pounds.

I've heard wildly varying tales on her "loss", from 3 lbs
to 9...but not 12. In any case, I don't know that I buy it.
There's a very good likelihood that she's a shill hired by
McD's. And there's no one watching her all the time like
there was with the fellow who made the documentary. She
says she eats the McGrills, but they have more calories
than the cheeseburgers. Along with more fat and more carbs.
    So, who knows?

The experiment is over, just in time for the opening of the
movie SuperSize Me. It was 10lbs, which doesn't quite make
up for the 25lbs the other guy gained.

If so, is that any worse than the guy who did the hatchet
job on McD's in the first place? He obviously had some kind
of ulterior motive, we just don't know exactly what it was.

Exactly. She's writing a book. But the first guy proved
nothing if he got sick from eating there 3 meals a day
for a month if all he picked from the menu were Big Macs
and fries. But ordering more healthful food would not

"Obviously?" Usually that means "I think it's true but I
don't have a shred of evidence."

And what's so sinister about an "ulterior motive?" People do
have motives for doing things, you know. Maybe his motive
was to see what eating McD's food for a month would do to
him. Maybe his motive was to get on the radio and make
money. So what? That doesn't change the facts of what he did
    and how it affected him.

I think both experiments are pointless and ridiculous. I do
know that people don't go to McD's often just to get healthy
food - their burgers, fries, and sugared drinks will always
make up 80+% of their sales.

I don't believe you can get as sick as that guy when you eat
3 Big Macs or QP+C's + large fries every day for a month.

Ovbviously this second lady is just mooching off the idea of

What hatchet job is that? He ate there, and filmed the
results. Hardly a hatchet job. His "ulterior motive" as you
say would be to make a documentary about the effects of
fast food. God forbid someone speak honestly about the
things plenty of people eat all the time. In case you
didn't notice, obesity and diabetes are gaining epidemic
momentum. There's a reason for that. No, it's not all
McD's, as he pointed out himself. Oh and by the way, if
what he had said/done wasn't true, do you really think
McD's would hesitate to sue him and try to stop the movie's
    release? Hardly.

    nancy

    Nancy,

Actually he didn't eat just big macs and fries. Part of his
"rules" was that he had to eat every item on the menu at
least once during the 30 days. And everything he ate or
drink had to come from McD's menu, including water. He ate
as most people would, just concentrated into 30 days, where
I think (hope) most people wouldn't eat there for every meal
every day! He had no motive other than to make a documentary
about the effects of fast food on the body. He got the idea
after watching the news talking about the young girl who was
suing McD's for her weight issues.

  16. Well, let's think.

The TOTAL McDonalds menu has (ignoring regional variations)
has right about 15,000 calories in TOTAL.

So, if his "rule" was to eat everything on that menu in the
month he would have consumed 15,000 calories in TOTAL or
    about 500 calories per day.

I'm guessing he should have lost weight on that diet,
    not gained.

It sounds like his self-control failed him and he max'd out
on the worst stuff after beyond fufilling his "rule".

If he had simply eaten everything twice he would only be up
to about 1,000 calories per day. Not exactly a pig out.

Cholesterol? A total of about 3000 mgs. 100 per day? Not too
shabby. Double that and 200 mg per day isn't too bad either.

How about Fat? about about 700 gms in TOTAL. 23 g per day?
46 g per day? This is looking like the worst thing here.

But wait, what about Sodium? At about 23,000 milligrams in
TOTAL. That is about 766 per day and even if he doubled
everything it is only about 1,600 mg per day. Not too bad.

Once again, a lapse of personal responsibility and
accountability is pushed off to "them".

He made choices to provide a story.

If so, is that any worse than the guy who did the
hatchet job on McD's in the first place? He obviously
had some kind of ulterior motive, we just don't know
    exactly what it was.

    -Bob

What hatchet job is that? He ate there, and filmed the
results. Hardly a hatchet job. His "ulterior motive" as
you say would be to make a

    Hardly.

    Well, let's think.

The TOTAL McDonalds menu has (ignoring regional
variations) has right about 15,000 calories in TOTAL.

So, if his "rule" was to eat everything on that menu in
the month he would have consumed 15,000 calories in TOTAL
or about 500 calories per day.

    Well, let's *think*:

Obviously he had to eat each item more than once. Duh. He
would have gone through all the sandwiches within the
first week, and would have starved the last 2 weeks.

    -sw

Right. So within the rules he set out, he could (and
probably did) eat QP&C or Big Mac's with jumbo fries and a
giant Coke and maybe a fried apple pie at almost every meal.
