My husband and I take an elderly relative out to lunch
every week, usually on Thursday. Today we went to a
local restaurant, kind of a greasy spoon. I planned to
use some points.
They had a special menu of "diet" foods, which of course
was mostly Atkins, but a couple with WW points. I ordered
the roast beef wrap with fresh fruit, 300 calories, 9 fat
grams, 3 fiber grams, and 6 points. Well, that's what the
menu said.
There's no way that's the points for that dish. I just
calculated it based on best estimates for quantities,
and came up with 500 calories, 25 fat grams, 3 fiber and
11 points.
It's not a problem for me -- I planned a light breakfast and
dinner and the points weren't out of range. But now I'm
wondering -- to what extent can you count on the nutrition
data from local restaurants?
Also, I'm guessing that the national chains are pretty
accurate in their nutrition claims. True?
And related, I recently read that Applebee's is testing menu
items with WW points in some markets with a projected
rollout nationally later this year. I've never eaten at an
Applebee's -- are they pretty good?
